Could the surf industry be in for a glorious renaissance?
Have you watched Zeke Lau’s newest video offering Views from Bali? It is, I think, exclusively on Stab/Stitch but is totally worth going and seeing and then being force-fed PowerBalance and SharkBanz! (FCS lyphe) (AF)
Zeke is a magnificent surfer, the soundtrack pops and the gentlemen at production house From the Basin capture both the surfing and lifestyle in exquisite high definition.
The definition is so high, in fact, that every small wrinkle can be seen on Zeke’s brow, every mark on his surfboard.
And what’s that? Could it be? Yes! Yes it is! The DC shoes sticker right there under the Electric lightning bolt!
DC put together one of the greatest surf rosters in a pre-2010 heyday. Andy Irons and Dane Reynolds together on the same team! Quiksilver’s financial woes forced the shoe brand to exit surf a few years ago (Quik bought the brand for 87 million in 2004) and the surf industry entered a tailspin toward total destruction.
But a rumor from a very inside source has them back! Back in the game! And this Zeke clip proves it!
Why does it matter? Because I am nostalgic for those heady days when Andy was brutally mangling Kelly and Dane was pure possibility.

The collective thought that goes into these comments is transcendent of that invested in any comic book movie.
skate shoes have been shit since the hipster fashion wave came into the view around 2005. before then dc shoes were good and durable, and had some cushion like the es koston and emericas. now they all just look like shitty lo cut vans knock offs
Ugly as they were, I will say that skate shoes circa 1998 lasted a really, really long time because of all the extra patches they were slapping everywhere.
Guardians of the galaxy is the devil. It will try and lure you with its ‘epic’ battle scenes , lolzy AF humour and computer graphics, but this bombast is just a cover tp keep u hooked cos they aint got no storyline. All the actors are contracted for like 20 more movies, therefore nobody will ever die, so expect more marvel excretement to come.yay!

I think I saw a pic of Bruce with the DC sticker on his board too. The DC snowboard team with Devun Walsh, Travis Rice & IIka Backstrom has always been solid.

Torstein Horgmo has been rocking a full-board DC decal since day one. Decked from head to toe. If the raddest dude in snowboarding doesn’t convince you that DC are the bomb I don’t know what will. Time for DC to start taking up some nose space!!
Nobody will convince me that DC are the bomb because, well, they don’t make a single fucking thing of utility for surfing, their skate shoes are ugly throwback wangster wear from 1995, and their marketing program is custom made for the X-Games on ABC and CBC.
That said, if the WSL makes it, I see big partnership possibilities.
Edit: I will admit that Wes Kremer is the raddest guy in skateboarding and I hope he’s making $$$ off DC, even if they are 2-3 steps behind on skate shoes.
Feel the same about the comics… first off, DC Comics? That’s redundant!!
DC shoes is like a DC comics movie…cool if you’re a 10 year-old…or an overweight sap who drinks 4 liters of Mountain Dew each day and really, really likes avoiding natural light.
I haven’t watched a comicbook movie since spiderman in 2002, which I thought was utter garbage. I refuse to watch or converse with others about them.
And not a goddamn detective to be found for the last half century!
