We’ve had two incredibly enjoyable days in a row. The Pipe Invitational sent spirits soaring and yesterday’s Seeding Round also kept us in mirth. The only problem was that nobody lost in the Seeding Round. That every single surfer will surf again.

Jesse Mendes is the only real threat to Morgan, especially looking at the heat draw.
Current cut off looks to be 21,355 IF Kelly retires (21,920 if not). Soli can make the cut if he wins Pipe and Yago does not progress any further – but he has to get past JJF first. Jesse Mendes needs at least a semi-final (or a final if Kelly does not retire). Other than that, it’s looking like it will be Yago and Deivid jostling for 22nd position and if Yago makes another heat Morgan Cibilic is pretty much safe. Ricardo can’t bump Yago or Deivid out of 22nd even if he wins.
There’s still the whole question of Kelly retiring which could get both Deivid and Yago over the line. It was the biggest news story at the start of the year but for some reason I haven’t heard anyone mention it for months. Hopefully the old fucker stays true to his word and Stuey can scrape in by the skin on his teeth.
