Nasty business.
David Lee Scales and I have now performed 143 podcasts, over 10,000 minutes of jibber jabber. Derek Rielly and I have performed 50, another pile of minutes mostly with extremely poor audio quality. There are, of course, many better surf podcasts including, but not limited to, Ain’t That Swell feat. Jed Smith and Vaughn Deadly and Lipped but my question is this: if you force your non-surfing significant other to listen to one should it be considered abuse?

What type of dickhead listens to surfing podcasts?
Had there been a Grit podcast back on New Year’s weekend 2007 during my honeymoon in Puerto Rico, I would’ve had my then-wife listen to it back where we were staying while I was surfing 3 days of easily managable overhead Wilderness. Not sure if it would have extended the marriage, or quickened the split-up all those years later…
Can we talk about Steve Rees making his wife film him surf? I’m a photo tart with the worst of them, but that’s heavy.

Totally unheard of in Australia .
Totally normal in Europe ……. especially for those with lots of money , a wife ( well naturally ) , who can’t surf for shit …..
I admit it, I do listen. My favorite part is when DLS gives spoilers about every movie and show he recommends before I get the chance to turn him off
If I forced my significant other to listen to this, I would be abused. She would kill me and maybe others too.
I’m embarrassed to read/comment anonymously on this website, let alone tell someone I’m trying to sleep with that I listen to a surf related podcast.
Might be time to start a BG group therapy podcast with a supporting 12 step program.

With a spouse of 30 yrs who surfs worse than I do, climbs mtns on skis in the winter with me, mtn bikes with solids skills and is always game for the next adventure I’m not sure I would expose her to a surf podcast. Now if Sophie Goldschmidt was still with the WSL instead of ruining US Skiing she might listen to her talk about her limited(aka virtually non-existent)surfing or skiing experiences…until she moved on to other entertainment 5 mins in
Lipped is very very shit don’t bother.
I disagree ….. Bell- Warren’s honest evaluations of WSL surfers’ technical abilities is second to none …… leaving their sponsors , girlfriends , boyfriends , art works , charities , skateboarding , yachting or creation of beer start ups to be wanked over at STAB ?
