Who won?
SOOoooo, what did we make of this whole thing? I imagine Nathan Fletcher is prob a bit disappointed no one really went bananas with the airs.
That wasn’t the best plan.
While some of the waves resembled a decent set at the US Open more than Pipeline, the reef is still there.
The reason that Huntington has been a launchpad for Toledo and Co. is that the shore break is quick and powerful for what it is, but breaks over nice wet coarse sand. It’s about the safest surface to fall on, in all of surfing.
The “screw it, I’ll go for it” aerial approach that pleases crowds at Huntington, nobody would try at Pipeline. The hail Mary attempts were still over deep water and more cautious, by necessity.
Also the boards that work to exit a tight barrel aren’t the best air trick boards.
