Epic discussion on BR as always. I hesitate to even chime in, like I hesitate to paddle out at Seaside Point on a good day. As for big waves, if I was willing to suffer the consequences of a fall, I could surf big waves, ie I could get towed into and ride on the wave. My point being, riding waves is only a small part of surfing, and I think a much small part of big wave surfing. It’s everything that happens before and after the ride that requires the skills that keep you alive. Maybe (likely) that’s what Kelly and Laird were referring to, Laird being the greater authority on the question IMO.

That’s not surfing and it’s no wonder that German’s are part of the dominant force. The first time we saw someone towing giant Nazare lumps it was fun to watch but like Kai hops, after a few its just fucking boring.

Ironic how the pretend female big wave surfer is commenting on the non big wave big wave challange.

Eliminate the safety skis and make them run back to the harbor to catch a ride back out if they fall.

Seems small for a Nazare event. How is the claiming going?

They’ve leveraged genetic engineering for decades to dominate surfing. Red Bull gives you wings and bigger balls

How do the jetskis and the driving on the beach fit into the WSL’s eco program? Didn’t see an update on that yet. I just assume I missed it.
What’s even better is there’s a number of jet skis but they actually fly around to different venues. Cuz you know, tough to find a jet ski at the beach ….
Jetski’s Are clean Compare to say a boat. And they’re about to go electric which will make cleaner. Hey, actually have electric wines out already. There is a little smaller but they’re working on a bigger tow..1. I mean, come on, let’s get rid of the whole thing is dirty. Board manufacturing and some of the most toxic shit going on as well as the wetsuits. Let’s plenty of surfer little bit loopy Permit brain damage…So much gas is wasted going on bunk missions with surf line has saved billions in gas for the people… Yes the lifeguards are allowed to Drive on the beach but not really an issue when I do upsurfing the golf in East Coast. and As well as throughout Mexico, you can drive on the beach and some places. There’s hundreds of thousands of cars partying so hawaii’s beaches driving is minimal. We are in the modern times unfortunately, and we should try to be conscious. But pollution is everywhere and we all participate.
Have to think it has to do with national pride. Americans pride seems to be coming from money. Few of Americans grew up not having money to buy wax let alone next plain ticket or cash to go the next contest..

The WSL offsets the pollution by using recycled cups while flying on PJs between events.

That’s cool that it’s sponsored by Joel Tudor.
He plans to redeem himself by being towed into a bomb on his longboard.
*Towed into a bong on his longboard
Not surprising that tow-ins are dominated by Brazzos and Euro trash, and their mascot Garrett.

Yeah no old money families in Europe ….
Or Brazil.
I’m impressed that Garrett can speak English almost as well as these Brazzos and Euros
Big difference between the guys having fun out there and rest of the field.
