Just like a wsl event but worse waves and worse surfers and worse broadcast. Surfing isn’t a controlled environment minus pool anyway so NS doesn’t translate.
Very successful as proof of concept. Surf needs to be better and more photog/viewer accessible. Get another one in the water ASAP- JJ, Nathan, Gabe, Dane Reynolds, Bobby Martinez (!?).
Milla was the star. Classic beauty and absolutely rips.
I reckon they need a heavy left and right to make it fairer.

The conditions are a bit of a let down for the finals. Given the whole “Mother Nature” is the star schtick I would have been nice if they’d managed to wait it out for pumping conditions.
Maybe needs to be 1 day event considering how much it dropped
Yeah I just turned it on and was kinda bummed I missed it but watching the replay it’s way more subdued and not nearly as interesting

I think watching Soli Bailey in Maps to Nowhere, especially that one with Caity Simmers was just as good or better than this for me. And that was just a straight up surf trip vid. Prolly cost less too haha.

hmm – surfing is great and I like the commentary and the spot is awesome for a trip obviously but I can’t help but think the WSL at big clean Keramas could be just as good. Oh man, I’m so jaded from watching the Eddie, Jaws, Mavericks, Pipe shootout, JJ freesurfing Haleiwa and Sunset!
I think if it had finished on the first day it would have been more groundbreaking of a format. that flavor on day one was unique and experimental where this feels in line with some of what we have seen before
for sure. the first day was heavy! The OP Boat Trip Challenge was run in 2000 and is essentially the same concept as this.
