He won it somewhere around 94 can’t remember the exact year. He said he was so shocked he bombed the vert contest the next day. Also everyone told him he needed to to turn pro as a skater since he won and he did.
Noah was a one in a million athlete but also a good guy and funny as hell.
Yea thanks for posting the pics. Good memories.

Wow incredible! That skate graphic is iconic. Still blown away that he won the Tampa am street skate contest because he was mainly a vert skater. He said he was just snowboarding around the coarse.
The Concrete Jungle deck is from around 1986ish when Noah and Jake Phelps were the sponsored ams for them.
Siick! That’s awsome you have one of his boards still. Noah looked up to Chris Roach a lot when he first started going up to Tahoe so yep, grassers not methods.
We both worked for a wholesale skate distributor in San Rafael in the eighties and I shared a condo with him for a year in 89/90.
He was sponsored by kemper and just switched from concrete jungle as an am for skating to a sponsorship with Powell.
Noah and Aron Vincent would start the day with fat bong hits every morning.
Many fun nights at our place eating pizza and playing Nintendo haha.

BTW Julian Wilson just won the Quey 1000 here in Newcastle. Maybe a comeback on the way?

Fucking legend
Used to watch this Upping the Ante part growing up and get so psyched.
Great footage. I actually just talked to mackdawg a few days ago. He lives in Oceanside and still surfs.
Is he wearing a bullrider’s kevlar vest in case he hits rocks?
Go Jared! Pop a legendary surfboard shaper…
Gettin GiGi with it…
Is Travis the Kelly of snowboarding?

Huh. I don’t think I’ve watched snow sports outside of the Olympics. Pretty entertaining.
Beach Grit and Snow Shit
By George, I think you’re right
The mic’d up rider screaming expletives is another missing from WSL.
That was not a make by Blackley.
Wozzle commentators definitely should be watching this and trying to learn something. Maybe they need to drink Red Bulls during the contests.
Agree!
And by that you mean hire new commentators
Ben Ferg ain’t no Filipe Toledo.
Going fucking huge. Pretty much overshot the landing.
I mean…. an insane attempt.
Don’t see anyone else going close to that so far. Pillow drops are pretty sweet but 60+ feet of complete freefall is nuts.
