Surfers furiously pinch phone screens as first images of Kelly Slater’s baby son revealed

The GOAT and the kid.

Joy, today, throughout surf-dom as the very first known images of surf great Kelly Slater’s and bikini maven Kalani Miller’s baby son have been publicly revealed. Slater announced the birth of the boy some few months back on the Barton Lynch podcast, telling his host, “We got a little boy and my friends think we’re playing a game with him, because we haven’t said the name. Because we actually, we don’t actually don’t call him anything. We gave him a name for his birth certificate, but, as of now, we don’t have a name to call him. So, we’re kind of just, like, letting him figure out what his personality is.”

Well, apparently the fella’s personality is harmony with the natural order as his name is Tao.

In any case, the gorgeous family went on a New Zealand vacation, Slater sharing a carousel of honey-colored photos of the family enjoying golf, sunsets and good living. The greatest athlete to ever live penned:

It’s been a real pleasure visiting NZ for the past few years to golf with my friend Ric Kayne (and find a few waves on the side with @te_tino_manuao supercaddy). His golf courses @taraitigolfclub and @tearailinks are beyond spectacular. It was an even better treat bringing the whole family for a vacation this year. I got a funny feeling we’ll be spending more time there in the years to come. Thanks for hosting us and making us feel at home. Cant wait to get back every time I leave.

Cryptic, that funny feeling. Maybe a permanent move to the Land of the Long White Cloud?

Back to young Tao, though. Do you image he will follow in daddy’s turtle moon-inspired footsteps and become a professional surfer or do golf instead?

Fun choices.

DJ Fisher shows off new million tower on the Gold Coast and own hair transplant.
DJ Fisher shows off new $50 million tower on the Gold Coast, left, and, right, his own hair transplant.

DJ Fisher to live in penthouse of own $50 million skyscraper with remaining apartments starting at $5.25 million

“It’s a deeply personal project for us…this is our forever home.”

The randy property developer DJ Fisher, once a pro surfer but now better know for techno anthems celebrating lube and pussy juice and shaved babylike snatches, has revealed an artist’s impression of his luxury $50 million Gold Coast tower.

His eight-storey tower on Jefferson Lane in Palm Beach is called Pescado, the Spanish word for fish, and has six full-floor units plus the big ol’ four-bed penthouse with its own rooftop terrace which Fisher will live in with his wife Chloe and chillun, one-year-old Bobbi.

For years, DJ Fisher, who turns forty in November, had been quietly buying up exceptional pieces of beachfront land at Palm Beach on Queensland’s Gold Coast. In 2020, he spent $A2.1 million for a 4000 square foot parcel and followed that up when he bought the neighbouring block three years later for $A3.1 mill.

“After weeks on the road, all I can think about is getting home, (and) that feeling of calm, of being fully present, is what we want to bring to Pescado,” DJ Fisher said.

“Palm Beach is part of my DNA, and that’s reflected in Pescado’s design, which captures the natural rhythm and energy of the coastline – it’s wavy and groovy, just like my music. We wanted to create a space where people can entertain, bring their friends over, and truly enjoy the coastal lifestyle. Pescado is not just another luxury development – it’s a deeply personal project for us (because) we’re not just building this place and moving on; this is our forever home.”

The apartments, all of ‘em with three bedrooms, start at $5.25 mill.

The last time we saw DJ Fisher on these pages, a man with a crown as barren as a mountaintop, was in December when he debuted a classic Caesar look with short, horizontally straight cut bangs.

The hair was courtesy of the wizardry of Brisbane-based hair transplant expert Dr Rukshan Senanayake who plugged the hair into Fisher’s crown with a painstaking 8369 hair grafts.

The operation, you’ll recall, is a gory ballet of scalp manipulation where the surgeon slices into the donor area, usually at the back of the head, extracting strips of hair-covered flesh with a scalpel.

The harvested strip is then diced into tiny grafts, each one a clump of follicles with bits of tissue clinging on. These grafts are meticulously poked into bald patches with needle-like tools, causing more bleeding and swelling.

The scalp is dotted with blood, scabs forming where each graft has been implanted. The patient leaves with a head bandaged, hiding the macabre scene underneath.

USA’s Bella Kenworthy trounces Canadian surf prodigy Erin Brooks as enmity between nations grows

Hard days in Ottawa.

The hostility betwixt the United States of America and northern neighbor Canada was a turn few saw coming. Canadians, generally good-natured and kind, were pushed into a state of bitter rage by U.S. President Donald J. Trump who dislikes poutine, ice hockey and maple syrup. The two countries have, in recent months, slapped each other with tariffs, booed each other’s national anthems and gotten into wicked ice fights.

Things are set to get much worse, though, as America’s Bella Kenworthy, a highly-regarded rookie on the World Surf League’s Championship Tour, just trounced Canada’s Erin Brooks, considered by many to be a prodigy, in round 16 the the Surf City El Salvador Pro down Punta Rrrrrroca way.

The heat featured hit lips, blown tails and bogged rails.

Canadians celebrated as their girl got a score to go ahead, with minimal time left, after Kenworthy fell asleep with priority. It was not to last, though, as the fates gifted her another wave that ended Brooks’ hope.

Trump likely rejoiced in the victory as he once declared, “I deal with every country, indirectly or directly. One of the nastiest countries to deal with is Canada.”

Hard days in Ottawa.

Motherhood, says Chappell Roan, is exhausting and joyless.
Motherhood, says Chappell Roan, is exhausting and joyless.

Chappell Roan and Bethany Hamilton square off in brawl over motherhood

“All of my friends who have kids are in hell. I’ve not met anyone who’s happy, anyone who has light in their eyes.”

The campy, sorta drag synth queen and grammy winner Chappell Roan, formerly Kayleight Rose Amstutz, has been slammed by surf queen Bethany Hamilton over recent comments Roan made about the horrors of being a mammy.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast in March, Chappell Roan sparked debate by saying, “All of my friends who have kids are in hell.”

Chappell Roan, who is twenty-seven, observed her peers with young children, noting, “I don’t know anyone who’s happy and has children at this age… I’ve not met anyone who’s happy, anyone who has light in their eyes, anyone who has slept.”

Motherhood, said Chappell Roan, was exhausting and joyless.

As readers know, “Family” has become a dangerous right-wing idea, one that perpetuates gender roles and economic inequalities and which is garlanded with notes of fanatic Christianity and white supremacy.

And, here, Bethany Hamilton, the thirty-five-year-old one-armed mammy of four, swung in to reassure her almost two-and-a-half-mill fans that motherhood ain’t so bad. Quite often, it’s beautiful and profound and a way to unlock a deeper sense of self and life.

“While yes there are some challenging days and some tough moments… I really love my children and enjoy their presence and the light that they bring!” Bethany writes.

“I think there’s a really dark tone towards motherhood on social media in particular and I think truly there is a lot of cultural shifts that need to happen surrounding family. Mothers may not be supported in the way that they need. Our mindsets may need to be reordered.

“But motherhood truly is a blessing when you see your children as a gift with a deep purpose…. It truly is a JOY.”

The 1988 world champ Barton Lynch summed up majority opinion below the line writing about Chappell Roan, “So sad.”

I love babies, got three of ’em, and can’t imagine what sort of vacuous, drug-soaked, T-dick riding life I’d be leading if not for they.

Reader, where do you stand on the issue of mammys and babies?
