Donald Trump is on a wild run through the Republican primaries and ooo-ee! Passion! Many enjoy his brand of tell-it-like-it-is bravado. Many others think he is a misogynistic racist evildoer. Well, count Stab (2004-2016) and The Inertia amongst the latter. Both waded into political waters today and opined the same!

I’d like to start this (probably long-winded) piece by saying that I am not the most learned political pundit. I think, at a base level, I am a socialist, to a point. The shitty thing about politics is that you have to pick–there’s no in between. Parts of capitalism are good. Parts of socialism are bad. More importantly, will the two esteemed voices of reason join forces on other significant matters of the day? Will Stab (RIP) x The Inertia be seen lobbying congress for equal access to education? A single-payer healthcare system? Might they form one perfect union in order to sell FCS fins to all across multiple content platforms?

I would recommend second hand bookstores to fill your wants and needs… surf magazines from about 1987-1997 should fit the bill.
In my opinion STAB is one of the most poorly executed websites I’ve encountered despite their financial backing. Even though they’ve got multiple writers, the voice of the magazine is homogenized and their articles read like an essayby a fifteen year old trying to describe the profound experiences they had coping with the loss of their pet rabbit. It’s cute, but it’s trash. I’ve witnessed BeachGrit grow exponentially. It was once frustrating that the articles were only short snippets and the comments section only had two or three comments on a good day. The writing is better than STAB’s and I like the effort those involved have made to interact with their readers. I’ve never been involved in any forums prior to STAB and BeachGrit…….. Who would’ve thought it would be so fun. You’re a good Gorilla. Keep up your fine work!

That is kind of the point. I want STAB to fail in the hands of venture capitalists. Then if BeachGrit sold I would want them to fail in venture capitalist hands again. Yeah FuegoInTheGut is a veteran of the comment section. Currently sitting on 5578 Comments with 9961 Upvotes they are pretty decent numbers. It won’t be long before he appears on the Disqus “interesting commenters” list. I think he is aged between 35-50 as he has spoken of the 80’s. I wouldn’t ban him. He might just need a reminder to put more thought in before pressing send. We all need that sometimes.

Stab is like Kelly. They used to be awesome, fun to watch, and exciting. But ever since they’ve gotten ulterior motives (SurfStich/Firewire,tomo,slater designs), it’s just been sad.

Socialism is such a difficult concept to grasp.
Not really, but most popular uses of the term are either 1. as epithet or 2. self-proclamations of voting center left in North American politics to impress that chick/dude at the yoga spot. Neither touches the foundations of the concept or its applications – successful or failed – worldwide.
3. much-needed counterbalance to unbridled capitalism and the social inequality and political corruption that ensues.
No argument outta me…but when writing up sponsor resorts, the editor in question has claimed that said resorts are ending social inequality because they hire local people and are green…not the most enlightened or consistent advocate for socialism, that’s my only point.
As for the political corruption, that’s kind of a universal across the political spectrum, no?
