Karma strikes, warns surfing champion Kelly Slater!
Of all god’s creatures, the whale is my favourite. Is it yours too?
The Game of Thrones actor Rose Leslie describes whale thus: “Very chewy and quite fatty. My friend had had whale before, so I knew it would be quite blubbery. It was delicious. I loved it. It was smoked, so it had a lovely kind of tangy taste to it. We had it a couple of nights. I was won over. It was very yummy.”
Earlier this Sunday in southern California, a forty-foot whale with a hump like a snow hill beached itself and died at Lower Trestles.
The surfing champion Kelly Slater reported,
“Anyone for a surf at Trestles? Im sure that #BeachedWhale oil should keep the crowds to a minimum coming into summer! Sketchy. Great white sightings sure seemed to coincide with the burying of a whale 15+ years back by Trails. Not saying they weren’t around before then but they’ve been sniffing around the area consistently since then. I wonder if they can/will tow this thing back out to sea before it completely decays in the rocks or do a necropsy on it. Anybody know? Can’t help but think this (washing up right in the middle of #Lowers) is Karma for humans possibly having some part in this whale’s death and the whale sending us a message we can’t help but have a look at. A mile or two south and we probably wouldn’t take nearly as much notice. Good summer to surf the wave pool.”

Surfline shut down the Lowers cam, the blood bath must have begun. I wonder who the lucky bastards are that get to chainsaw this whale apart?
Sharks will be a problem…the whale has washed up on a State Beach….Any attempt to haul the carcass out to sea at high tide will fail…there is just not enough water at high tide to float this 30 ton carcass…dragging it over the rocks will tear it apart making things worst…!!!
Years ago a huge whale washed on shore at the State Beach further south…the State did nothing at first…until the whale began to decompose…spilling into the ocean gallons of putrid whale oil and flesh as well as the bacteria of putrefaction…turning the surf into a yellow slime and issuing a horrific foul stench….and this at a popularly visited beach…and yes this attracted a lot of sharks…!!
Eventually the State decided to cover the carcass with sand…it was to large to dig a hole and bury it… just trying to move it into a hole would be too difficult…. But then the high tides would remove the sand exposing the carcass…the State would then send down its bulldozer again to cover it with sand…they did this time after time over 3 months. During this period the body fluids still managed to seep through the sand into the surf…
People continued to visit this beach…and seeing the huge pile of sand saw it as a playground…Children would climb to the top of the mound and slide down it into the water. Eventually they exposed the carcass and in doing so, to their great dismay, came in contact with it as well.
For 3 months most surfers avoided the breaks at this beach..those that ventured into the water were soon covered with the oils and the stench. They reported to me that they had to vigorously clean their wetsuits inside and out afterwards.
To the surfers at Trestles…I am so sorry …!!!

As I read: “Do you think the ailing, but media savvy…” I thought it was gonna be a sentence about Kelly.
Its a bloody conspiracy , to get more people using wave pools , Kelly was even seen lurking near Lennox early last year driving a huge truck , with concealed dead whales and spread them from Ballina to Byron. Its all about the wave pools!
Shit I just realized I’ll be at Lowers next week , might have to trade in my yellow board for a …..??

The dead whale being ‘karma’ has about as much symbolism as the dead whale representing Kelly’s competitive career…
The whale was dead for quite a while before it washed up on the inside left at Lowers.
It drifted across Capistrano Bay and was partially eaten by a group of adult Great White sharks. Subsequently it’s belly opened up and it’s intestines and guts washed up at the Pier and t-Street….Good Times.
I actually saw what I believe to be this whale a few weeks back, floating a few hundred yards off of shore at Thalia Street in Laguna Beach. It was covered in scavenging foul and their foul shit.
Whales are awesome when you hear them singing underwater, but about as cool as a supsquatch when they are rotting in the lineup. Nudibranchs are the best – animals that can turn themselves into solar panels are pretty sexy I reckon.

Put it this way. If I had of overheard someone talking about a Nudibranch on the bus I would presume they were talking about the office affiliated with a clothed office where the nudists work.
