Because the hospitals are jam packed due to Covid, a family member just diagnosed with terminal cancer is struggling to get treatment. He needed an overnight stay, but no go because no beds. This is exactly what I said would happen. Humans these days, on average, are mentally weak.
My mum is in hospital for a couple of days with nodes on the lungs. You know, one of the long term effects of the virus. Luckily for us the health system is not over whelmed and it’s all good. Hope your fam is good.
That sucks. Yeah, the many people I know in healthcare are exhausted. Our local house representative got it and he went for routine lung x-ray and they decided to hold him – scared the shit out of him. He produced vids of his experience which I think helped show that this shit is not a hoax (yes many around me believe that – welcome to dotardlandia). They are seeing significant lung damage in asymptomatic people too.
It’s a tough go for them – this happened very rapidly – terminal colorectal cancer at 49. It is so bad that when they went in they could not tell what was tumor and what was organ. The recommendation now is to get checked 45 and up. Diagnosed back in Nov, 12 mos left is the optimistic end.
Hope mum gets better. It’s like Russian roulette with a virus, ya never know what it’s going to do – maybe nothing, maybe years of health complications.

Mum is good. Kind of happy to be in a place where she gets looked after for a while and Dad gets a break from looking after her too. We had the big talk, just in case, and we were able to say the things we needed to. She has been an over achiever, and effected positive change around her for many people both directly and indirectly. A good and worthwhile life. Not to mention Citizen of the Year in Gympie even!

Great to hear about your mum. Hoping things go well as can be. Sounds like you all handled a difficult situation as well as can be.
On the positive side these tough situations can lead to growth both in relationships and personal growth. Just have to remind ourselves (me especially) to keep pushing.
I can confirm that the lineup was surprisingly uncrowded by recent Bondi standards that particular afternoon. The surf, however, was as straight as usual but you could hear the bongos and festivity in the lineup
