I’ll be honest with you here, I forgot that a 100-foot wave was the “Holy Grail” type of ocean ride but I forget more and more these days. I do recall a day where the mystical 100-feet seemed both atmospherically impossible and physically impossible. No way could a wave ever get that big. No way could a human ever ride.
Then, climate change, then very progressive tow-surfing et voila.
The “100-foot wave” moniker has now been hung on a few different ocean rides, notably Tom Butler, Garrett McNamara and Sebastien Steutner’s Nazare beasts but much debate as to where the trough, or lowest point, of those Portuguese Mamas actually is.
Eddie’s son Makua Rothman, anyhow, was out at Jaws over the weekend, feasting on that ridiculous run of swell and TMZ is now the first major media outlet to declare his wave to be 100-feet or over.

No doubt the unlicensed trades are being affected by illegal workers. It is real! On east coast we are almost two decades into it. Their work ethic is. to be admired. Unions would help bring the middle class back?
Its not just he unlicensed trades, its almost all trades. West coast started with laborers but they eventually become “carpenters”. Now the industry is dominated by those that were once laborers. That said, union are atrocious. The rates they seem to think are needed are nowhere close to reality. A guy that typically gets $30/hr gets $80/hr on a union job. How the hell is that supposed to help anyone except the few guys working the trade? Bad for the GC, bad for the owner/developer, bad for the bottom line cost. Makes no sense.
Yes on term limits. I hope the elected leaders understood the message. “We the people” are fed up. They all need to get to work and do their jobs period.
A friend of mine from Maroubra couldn’t get to Queensland with his family so he went to the mountains.

Camping in the bush in Australia is interesting because it kind of looks like California, but the bird noises are way different – like there’s some prankster in the bushes with a loudspeaker playing Tarzan noises.

Quite a few Republican Senators and House members have said exactly that on numerous occasions. Do you watch or read the news?
Yes I do. There were a few that spoke out but not very many. I even watch and read channels and web sites that are on the far right so that I can try and make sense of what is driving people to think that attacking the capitol is saving the country. The sad part about it is that if all the things they believed were true such as congressmen are pedophiles it is logical to do what they did.
That’s the problem this country is dealing with. They are convinced that the college system is against them, mainstream media is against them, Hollywood is against them, the election was stolen from them. You can’t believe scientists. etc. Its scary and I don’t know how it’s going to get fixed.
They’ve been funneled into an echo chamber now, Parler and Newsmaxx are what they trust, nothing else.
I’d say the people that believe those things qualify as stupid, college degree or not. I certainly know some intelligent people who have some fucked up ideas about higher education, media, and election stealing. Thing they don’t realize is that all those concepts came from Trump, all of them. Prior to him you never heard any of those ideas in the mainstream. Now, he has made it normal to lie and to believe bullshit. That’s the core of the problem and not sure how it gets fixed either. But, getting rid of the most vocal and known source of disinformation is a start.
I read the twitter feed of the lady that got shot and it was full of conspiracy theories. They thought that it was another 1776 and they likened it to George Washington crossing the Potomac River to save America from the pedophiles in congress that stole the election. Yikes.
To be fair, that is the fringe right and not all conservatives feel that way. That would be like labelling all liberal thinkers as Antifa, it’s just not true. And sorry but that chick deserved to get a cap in her ass (or neck in this case) as did everyone else who breached the Capitol building.
