There are some significant lulls in this swell. Highlighting why this format is better than adding heat structures from competition. So many heats get skunked by lulls and tides. The WSL needs to figure out a 6 hour format to wrap an entire competition up. One swell with the best possible tide and conditions available and zero fucken fluff. So it will likely have to be someone other than WSL to ever try that. Until then I’ll be happy with this style of great surfers in quality conditions no scores needed.

The swell doesn’t seemed to have panned out as good as they thought (which would be an absolute first for surfline). If it was a hectic session with consistent 20ft sets I think it would gain traction fairly quickly on Youtube. The Red Bull Cape fear in 2016 was a perfect example of the viral nature of carnage on social media.
I expect the WSL is worried about Surfline cracking the numbers with a big swell event. The same thing with the Eddie it was everything the WSL wants to be but just can’t pull off. Hopefully Cloudbreak turns it up this season as it has been a while. This format and a code red swell will be just what we all need.

Totally agree you will likely get ear cancer from listening to it. Just put it on mute in the background on a second screen or TV. The footage is great. Its how I watch all WSL events the sound of Turpels voice makes me want to instantly punch something.
