It’s still hard to believe that longboarding is taken seriously as an actual sport. A recreational activity for old people or beginners in places with small shitty waves maybe, but that’s about it. Almost anyone of average athletic ability can ride one of these boards like these ‘top competitors’. Fuckin’ embarrassing for anyone involved really…

Lol, I don’t know mate. from judging long boarding contests not many competitors can actually nose ride or even cross step up and down the board. The worse were the odd good shortboarders who decided to get try some “easy” points or prizes. Shuffling, pumping and jumping back and forth and the worst styles.
I don’t consider myself qualified to talk shit on professional long boarding until I actually learn how legitimately cross step and ride the nose beyond a bullshit cheater 5, which will pretty much never happen for me.
Traditional longboarding is hard, high performance longboarding is fucking easy for a good surfer. I got into a bit of HPLB for awhile. Was a menace in the lineup, caught a ton of waves from one foot to big as gets around here. Still the fastest I’ve ever been on a surfboard. So fun using that much rail though turns. Technical barrels, big backhand reos. Never went to the nose 😂 Every surfer in town was happy when I broke that thing. Was a great year of exclusively riding it but couldn’t even stand up on a shortboard after, felt like a tooth pick.
