Chozza is an internationally published author with his own website…not a bad record for a surf writer. He’s dealt with critics, many of them hostile, his whole career. He’s amongst his people here, very supportive environment.
He might not want to write “what he knows” he might want to experiment with form, content and style, as well as POV.
What I’m saying is, he probably doesn’t need a backseat driver, no matter how encouraging, telling him how to drive or where to go.

And not that you asked but I feel clear about what I want to create for the first time in maybe three years. I wrote Welcome to burn my bridges in the surf world and move on to what I really cared about. Politics, fashion, war, subversion. But after dipping toes in all over I’ve come to realize that surf is where I actually want to be. That this strange little cesspool is my home and there are still too many great untold stories.
And I personally have no passion for surfing in any intellectual context, nor its relationship to anything but the view of my fins from out the back.
