I won’t lie, I enjoy a good steak but enjoy al pastor and bacon much more. Yes, I’m a pork man but the death of Hawaii’s famous surfing pig Kama3 has rocked me to my core and let us turn to Hawaii’s KOHN news for more.
Kama3, part of the Hawaii’s surfing pig ohana, has died, on Saturday afternoon, June 22.
According to Kama3’s owner, Kai Holt, the pig was killed by unknown suspects.
“We have lost a Hawaiian island icon,” said Holt. “A legendary beast who has touched the hearts and souls of millions of people around the world.”
This surfing pig was the first hoofed animal to win the Duke’s Ocean Fest Tandem Animal Division alongside Kitty the Surfing Cat.
“With all the good that these surfing pigs have done in the world, it saddens me greatly to see such an evil and senseless act executed by very ignorant, desperate, idiotic individuals in broad daylight,” said Holt.
The story goes on to recount all the films that Kama3 starred in and the joy he brought to so many lives. And what would possess those bastard ignorant, desperate, idiotic individuals to carry out such a brazen act? For plate lunch or something far more menacing?
Also, have you ever had a wonderful pet that broke your heart upon demise? A dog? Cat? Parrot?

Ya know the flip side of this is that pigs are an invasive animal in Hawaii, right? If this guy wasn’t neutered or spayed could he have escaped and reproduced?
I am so sick of hearing “invasive” Every human in Hawai’i is an invasive.
For those who don’t know who Cathy Goeggel is, she has long been a tireless and staunch advocate for animal rights and compassionate treatment of all animals here in Hawaii. Whether it be the inhumane treatment of marine mammals at for-profit and non-profit institutions, abuse of our beloved pets etc, she has been at the forefront of many righteous campaigns.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Cathy since the days of dolphins Puka and Kea liberation from an abusive research facility on Oahu.
We have plenty of good fun joking here at BG but I believe the commenters here wholly subscribe to the ideals and causes that Cathy espouses especially when it comes to the compassionate treatment of all animals.

Personally, I never trusted people who would blow their own scarce surfing time taking a dumb animal out on a board to catch burgers. Is it about the animal or the social media validation? The multiple GoPro approach has me skeptical.

Yodi, the cattle-dog x staffy from back in the day when mongrels were not quite as common. She was a piece of work. Lived in my van for 2 years, so she accepted the van as her territory. I’d walk down the beach with her and as soon as I entered the water, she would head back to the van and be waiting under it when I came back. In 5 years of owning that van, she wasn’t with it 3 times. It was broken into 2 of those times.
She retired to my parents place on acreage when I went to Indo on study exchange. They wouldn’t give her back. There was another cattle-dog up there as well; Jack. And only one favourite chair. If Jack was on it, she would casually walk past, then prick her ears up, bark a couple of times and make off towards the driveway or towards the dam. Jack would charge past her to prove he was the alpha, while she would casually turn back and take ownership of the chair. And that’s where she died. Chuckling about how dumb Jack was, I’m sure.
