But the surf dystopia is moving along, full steam ahead, and especially for our sisters and brothers that live in Oceanside, California. Flanked by the Marines’ Camp Pendleton to the north and a town named after a Bohemian spa to the south, Oceanside has long been allowed to retain a crusty independence. An-off-the-radar quiet much enjoyed by its surfers.
Well, those days are long gone as the “newest and largest oceanfront resort” built in San Diego county in over 50 years is set to swing its doors wide this coming Spring 2021.
The resort will span both sides of the Oceanside pier and actually feature not one but two hotels.
The first, called Mission Pacific Hotel, will have 161 guestrooms and suites with 3,000 square feet of retail, feature the only rooftop pool bar in North County and the “Top Gun” house which, featured in the Tom Cruise film and was moved to make room for the build.
The second, called the Seabird Resort, will hold 226 guest rooms, a full-service spa, fitness center, a 9,000 square foot pool deck that faces the ocean, more than 20,000 square feet of ocean view meeting spaces, a “California cuisine” restaurant and an ocean view lobby living room bar and lounge.
The two will also share “beach recreation and watersport programs.”
Jeremy Cohen, senior vice president of the development, says, “The whole north shore of San Diego has some of the most desirable beaches in the whole region, and Oceanside has taken on this kind of cool Brooklyn kind of vibe. We’re excited to be part of that community.”
And if I was a longtime Oceanside local, I don’t know which part would thrill me more, the “beach recreation and watersport programs” dragging hordes of VALs into the lineup where they can practice being in the way or described as having a “cool Brooklyn kind of vibe.”
Very exciting.

Reading this made me wish for a good old DCM story , you know dead cunts matter , been ages since we had a good chortle over that DCM Andy Ironic.
Maybe Brooklyn has dramatically changed since I was there last time 8yrs ago (first time was almost 30yrs ago).
It was always a stinky dump with more ‘places of worship’ than a bible belt town, and not at all cool.
Though it’s good the way you can buy a beer from a deli and they pour it into a big coffee cup so ya can drink in the streets without cops busting ya for looking too much like a hobo…
Long time resident here! Really dislike all the big hotels by our quaint beach area! It’s ruined our quiet beach town! Accessibility for local is so cluttered now! Just tourist! Such a shame! Also it’s become so unaffordable here! The reason most have lived here for so long was because of the affordable beach community that was once Oceanside! Not any more! Very sad you ruined our lil community!

With the apocalypse hitting O’side, can Leucadia be on the menu next? I think what’s lost are the regulators that made it “unpleasant” for the masses who tried to invade a good spot.
Quaaleudia lost its funk when it was absorbed into the city limits of Encinitas. And why anyone would keep all of those god awful eucalyptus trees along coast highway is beyond me. Start the clean up there. I can smell the cat pee smell from them here in Carlsbad on a shit, south wind day. At least Carlsbad has gotten rid of some of the ones here.
Eucalyptus loves fire ….. apparently there were very few in Australia until 50,000 years ago , and then boom , man arrives with fire stick farming and The continent is now covered from top to bottom with them .

Nothing in the upper half of the state. All bought out by techies. No more affordable surf gettos like Pleasure Point used to be. Maybe Waco
I guess there is still Eureka with all the pelican bay parolees. I’ve lived in Oakland and the lower Haight in the early 90s and East LA recently and Eureka makes them look like upscale gated communities!!!!

They hired a new LG chief from out of town over multiple guys who were born and raised in the dirty southwest. One of them guarding for 39 years in IB. Now he’s trying to get seasonals to leave their tower and walk the pier to write citations for families drinking modelos and instead of giving raises bought everyone individual helmets to “stop the spread”. I mean the dude wears combat boots on the beach, if that ain’t a nazi I don’t know what is.
To make it more fun the military slims just opened their new base so there’s a bunch of fade cut fagitos moving in and pushing everyone out with their ridiculously high BAH allowance.
As long as the water stays shitty it should Hopefully keep things quiet a bit longer. Bring on the rain, only builds my immune system anyway

Surfed a jetty spot that at dawn and full tide was ok, but within an hour it was the most crowded, uncooperative chaos I have seen except for Pacifica Beach Taco Bell reef.
They are amazing , but no more or less than the Egyptians , Syrians , Iranian women that I have met in Europe ?
