Surf fans, around the world, are increasingly anxious, this morning, that the beloved Surf Abu Dhabi Pro could face cancellation following the U.S. declared war on Iran. Days ago, Trump took to Truth Social to share that bombs were falling in Tehran, and elsewhere, in order to destroy Iran’s ability to make nuclear weapons and longer-range missiles and also incite the population to rise up.
Iran has responded by showering the gulf with suicide drones and shorter-range missiles, causing much havoc in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
This morning, the U.S. shuttered its Saudi and Kuwait embassies, ordering staff home and telling citizens not to travel to the region. While Trump initially declared the operation would be wrapped up in a few weeks, he also announced, yesterday, that it could be waged for eternity.
Taking to Truth Social, again, he shared, “The United States Munitions Stockpiles have, at the medium and upper medium grade, never been higher or better — As was stated to me today, we have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. Wars can be fought ‘forever,’ and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries finest arms!). At the highest end, we have a good supply, but are not where we want to be. Much additional high grade weaponry is stored for us in outlying countries.”

But let’s get serious with a scenario here about why this is happening, shelving the conceit that Trump, and everyone in his orbit, are maliciously idiotic just for giggles.
This whole business has nothing to do with nukes or ayatollahs but is a play to squeeze China, which derives 14% of its crude intake from Iran. After knocking Venezuela offline, and if Iran can be brought to heel through decapitation of leadership and a buying off of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (a la Venezuela), the U.S. would basically control China’s energy et voila.
