The citizens of pretty northern Californian surf hamlet Santa Cruz were treated to a terrific display of grappling over the weekend after an adult learner was humiliated by the noted Brazilian black belt Sandro Santiago.
Santiago, who is a former world champ and founder of a nearby jiujitsu school, was forced to dispense what is termed “street justice” after the adult learner started gettin’ a little mouthy in the water and suggested their argument progress to the physical.
Shortly after, the adult learner was forced by Santiago to whimper, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry” after Santiago’s rear naked choke and clever use of leg to neutralise the adult learner’s arm found its mark.

That’s the reason everyone have to seek how to learn self-defense for real situations against bully’s , learning how deal with situations like that without throw punches or kick only with clean and good technique.
In the water, his behavior crossed the line from rude into outright bullying. He aggressively chased me down, shouting things like “go back to your country” and threatening to “kick my ass and going to drowning me ” also he said he don’t care because he have been in jail before ., creating a hostile and unsafe situation. I made multiple attempts to de-escalate by paddling away, but he kept chasing me and closing the distance, throwing verbal insults. Despite my efforts to avoid conflict, he escalated things further by throwing the first punches.
He follows by splashing water at me, and then continuing to still yell and say that I deserved his assault because I called out his poor etiquette and behavior from a week back (he had jumped in off the cliff, and took an oncoming wave without joining the lineup).
When we got to land to continue what he started in the water, I chose not to retaliate (when I absolutely could have). Instead I stood my ground and demanded accountability, making it clear that an apology for his actions and behavior was the only appropriate resolution.
With technique and a lot of care and respect of his integrity , without delivery any damage on him I just made him apologize for his stupid behavior against my person and let him go.
I wish I can do exactly what he really deserved, but I spared him .
Now imagine if I don’t know how to defend myself ???

He was the aggressor from the beginning, but at the end he turned out to be like a little crybaby .
I hope he’s learned his lesson and don’t do that with no one else because at the end, it’s not who you are. It is all about respect each other be nice to people. I was very nice with him , because after he threw the first punches on me he deserved WAY MORE than only.
Does jiujitsu really work in a real-life sitch?
I think, yes and no.
One, you gotta be purple belt level or higher, train no-gi, do a helluva lot of wrestling to get the show down to the ground and, real important, know how to avoid strikes if you front someone who trains.
A kid I used to get beat up by years back has his own channel where he puts the does-jiujitsu-work-in-a-street-fight argument to the test.

The performance of the CT chicks is akin to a storm in a teacup, it’s evident that waves requiring more than two turns and a finish reveal the absence of depth in their array of attacks. This aligns well with what seems to be the WSL’s continuous journey towards waves of mediocrity. The final act at the pipe, which I contend serves as a disguise for the overall performance levels of the CT chicks, is a point of contention.

I frothed on the woman’s final and the semis. Nadia was my surprise favorite of the event. Carissa seemed out of sorts and frankly seems to be juggling a lot of internal adjustments being a mum. She had one turn that was so critical in the Lakey heat and it was a shade of brilliance that she couldn’t hold onto. Caity did my fucking head in. Soysoy got a lot of that Ethan mojo transferred. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised that the conversations or support EE has is spilling over to her. Who knows but she was also a pleasant surprise in this event.
