Sports Illustrated gal delivers feminist classic!

What juxtaposition!
The gal whose twerking before a heat in a pro-am at Oceanside generated eight million hits, whose own Instagram account just flew past one million, who has been nominated for an XXL big-wave award, who owned the 2014 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, who has danced mons to mons with Madonna, deftly covering one of the twentieth century’s best poems.
The poem “explores the risk that women have of being stereotyped. By employing the literary devices of imagery and metaphor, Addonizio is able to convey the message that what women really want is to be understood. Through her harsh and honest style, Addonizio wrestles with the burden of false impressions and put them in their place.”
Last week, BeachGrit reprised the poetry idea with a recording of the feminist poem What Do Women Want by the American Kim Addonizio.
