Slater is widely known as a master gamesman, getting in competitors’ heads, burrowing into their very guts and I can only think he is positioning himself to shock and amaze, especially with the shock announcement that Gabriel Medina has withdrawn from competition.
Tell me, who can stand in emotional peak Kelly’s way?
What if he wins Pipe, quarters Sunset? Completely in the realm of possibility and then we have the Australian leg what with its mandatory vaccination policy and saber rattling politicians but let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.

If he does well in pipe which he most likely will, he will probably end up changing his mind and getting the vax after all so he can travel to the other events.
Even Finneman’s “best friend” hates him and leaving the girlfriend in Greece was too much. By the time he slurps Doc’s balls in OB I was done. Competing about literary BS was too much too. They gave him an award, but I bet none of them surf.

Thanks I’ll put them down on my list. I like books that are a collection of essays. I’ve read the every David Sedaris book and a few of Ann Lamott’s books. I appreciate it.
If you like essays, try Gay Talese’s Frank Sinatra has a Cold. The title essay is considered by many as the greatest ever, but I thought ‘The Loser’ (also in the same collection) even better!
I went back to college in 2007 and ended up having a really good English teacher. I actually started to like writing a essays. It is a long torturous process for me with many drafts, but I got A’s on every one I wrote. Now I appreciate good writing as much as the talent of the best pro surfers .
