These included a reel from Al Jazeera showing Hamas terrorists in paragliders landing in Israel and about to murder and rape indiscriminately with the caption, “Palestinians in Gaza made history as they escaped the world’s largest prison”.
In other words, the Jews made us do it!
In another salvo, Lucy Small cleverly described Israel as being “at the nexus of colonisation, white supremacy, capitalism and (the) military industrial complex…”
Among today’s fusillade of stories, Small has revealed her obsession with the conflict with an eighteen-point explanation of an average day in the house of Chez Yay Hamas.

You are getting countries mixed up with extremists. Egypt & Jordan (plus a bunch of nearby countries that do not share borders) have normalised relations. Lebanon is effectively a failed state run by Syria. Syria is a dictatorship propped up by Iran and Russia. So once again, it all leads back to Iran.
Israel occupied Lebanon in the 80s and only a few years ago invaded (again). They also invaded Egypt and Jordan. And of course the plight of those residents of the Gaza Strip and West Bank isn’t exactly sunshine washed in a stainless steel bowl is it. No, it’s more like that place where pro surfers were boycotting in the 80s.
We don’t have to look very far to see how being invaded kind of leaves a lasting mark on those who got invaded. It’s not a surprise that living in places that were invaded aren’t really happy about it. You could even say “sovereignty was never ceded” in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

I served on a kibbutz for 9 months in 1982, in the Haifa area – a great experience, in learning about why Israel exists and how the Israelis will defend their country to any extent, as many people have tried to wipe the Jewish people from the face of the earth for many centuries and none have succeeded and none ever will, certainly not Hamas.
We were a small kibbutz, only 60 or so international volunteers, but more than half our volunteers came from one country and they were not Jewish at all. We had more than 30 from what was then West Germany, with different motivations for being in Israel which some of them refused to detail for obvious reasons, but all there to serve.
Lucy Small should do something similar, she has no clue at all what she is talking about with her misguided support for Hamas and serving in the area, either as a volunteer on a kibbutz in Israel or in some capacity inside Gaza itself will educate her, very quickly indeed, which side of this conflict she should be on.

The main thing that comes through is her distress at the violence. If she has expressed support for the initial attack, you might like to consider the role of Israel’s disproportionate response in generating that kind of feeling. Driving 1.5 million from their homes and forcing them to flee in fear of their lives while killing 17,000 people, the vast majority having no connection to Hamas, is not likely to generate support. Judaism is a religion. Israel is a nation and will like any other, be judged on its present actions, not its history.

Not correct at all. Many of the deaths have been armed Hamas fighters. That is the whole point, the IDF isn’t in Gaza to kill babies.
It is very clear Hamas uses civilian infrastructure like hospitals and schools as shelter to attack the IDF and there isn’t any other way to eliminate Hamas in a densely populated area without killing non-combatants.
Where are all the Friends of Palestine, as the deaths of Palestinian civilians increase? Egypt could allow the entire population of Gaza into the Sinai Peninsula and feed and shelter them for the duration of the conflict until Hamas is eliminated – but they do not allow a SINGLE Palestinian thru any of their border crossings with Gaza. They don’t want them in their country at all. Neither does Jordan or Lebanon, there are no offers of refuge from ANY Arab Muslim country in the region. Explain that, please.
Maybe the Palestinians in Gaza should have given the matter more thought before they elected Hamas as their political representatives and allowed Hamas to expel the far more moderate Palestinian Authority, in many cases, by killing the PA representatives.

Best estimates I can find 5000 Hamas fighters. 6600 children. 1948 was the year that Israel was established by driving out 700,000 Palestinians from.their homeland. To characterise the resulting violence as an attack on Israel is a gross historical error. Since then the violence has continued from both sides as each denies the others right to exist. Pick a side if you must but the history indicates a shared responsibility weighted only by Israel’s superior capacity to inflict violence on its opponents and its on going expansion beyond its legitimate borders.

On 29 July, in retaliation for the execution of three of their members, LHI kidnapped and hanged two British Army sergeants. They then booby-trapped the bodies so that the officer who cut them down was badly injured.

And, while y’there, and for balance, Ed Said’s The Question of Palestine is worth your time. His essay, Zionism from the Standpoint of Its Victims, real good, too.
