Melania, the new Amazon-funded documentary lighting up both media and, apparently, the box office, has caused quite the stir. Directed by objectively awful director Brett Ratner, the vérité piece follows Donald Trump’s third, and current, wife as she readies herself for a second stint in “The People’s House.”
I have not watched, nor do I plan to, though not for political reasons. I hated the entire Rush Hour franchise and everything else the Greasy Bear to-go has touched, but was very curious as to Melania’s (the film) actual haul.
Critics, of course, damned the thing, calling it gilded garbage. MAGA fans swung in, gifting it a 99% fresh ranking on Rotten Tomatoes.
An $8 mil opening haul against a $75 mil spend the numbers, thus far.
So what is the truth?
As I can’t bring myself to Ratner, I have been forced to wait until unbiased National Public Radio did the work to see who, actually, was watching the film.
Per the Voice of America:
Audience members were largely white (75%), women (70%), and 55 or over (72%). Dallas, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta and West Palm Beach were among the top markets over the weekend, according to data from Amazon MGM Studios.

Hard to find anything with all those redactions, it would be hard to believe that a Trump owned government didn’t redact a few documents that mention your glorious leader.
