One week after the Four Seasons Resort in the Maldives announced that the popular Brazilian surfer Victor Bernardo would be joining Mason Ho for its annual Surfing Champions Trophy invite event, news came that Victor and his wife Johnni had been involve in a near-fatal car crash.
Filmmaker Logan Dulien wrote,
Please keep @victorbernard0 and his wife @jbuff9in your prayers . On Sunday night they were in a very serious car accident that easily could have been fatal but by the grace of god are still with us . Victor was airlifted to the hospital and his wife Johnni was taken in by ambulance . They are currently both still in the hospital preparing Victor for surgery and doing there best to improve his wife’s condition . It’s going to be a very long and expensive road to recovery but Im confident the surf community will rally together to support and uplift them on the challenging journey ahead.

“Sending so much love and light. Victor is such a nice guy,” wrote Mick Fanning.
As Victor’s shaper Matt Parker from Album Surfboards said last year,
“It’s really crazy to think that someone with Victor’s talent and ability, only five years ago, was living out in the desert. A couple of hours away from the beach. Washing dishes and working catering jobs, trying to earn enough money to go surf again.”

I had given him one way back when he was a grom and he told me it was his favorite board. I learned second hand that he went with Album instead, but it would have been cool to work with him. Anyway, hope he gets better.
