Grace under fire.
It is a tragedy any time a shark eats a person but much more tragic if that person is beautiful and unspeakably tragic if an entire beautiful family finds its end down a ruthless gullet but maximum tragedy nearly occurred last week just off Australia’s Bulli Beach.
The reef, just south of Sydney, is known for consistent enough surf though on that frightful day the Hanleys were all out for a family snorkel.
Sister, Taia, explains how she saw the beast getting closer and closer and alerted brother, Baxter, who didn’t think it was real. Father, Scott, heard one of the children scream and made his way over in order to calm them down and plan an escape as they were roughly 150 meters off shore.
Brother, Jobi, gave his speargun to his dad but kept his knife handy in order to protect his sister, knowing full well that a knife beats a fist when it comes to inflicting damage.
Blessedly, they all made it back to shore safety and were praised by local authorities for keeping cool heads and their eyes on the shark and have already been back in the water since the encounter.
Yet have you ever seen a family so beautiful?
So gorgeous?
I imagine, when the film Hanelys vs. Shark comes out next year, that Brad Pitt will play father Scott while the children will play themselves and go on to wonderful, fulfilling careers in Hollywood.
Quickly, though, what will play the shark?

I’ve seen them exhibit this same behavior in Namibia. One came up behind a body boarder following him as he slow kicked. I spotted it moving in on his Churchills. Shouted to him and he lifted his legs. It turned off and sank into the murky tea stained depths. End of sesh. That place is super sharky.

yes it is a bronze whaler, known in some circles as a copper shark because of the coppery sheen of its back skin, it’s very dangerous to fish but not a huge attacker of people, and I ran one of them over yesterday afternoon on my surf ski, poor thing.

I don’t have an opinion about any of that. I do, however, think it’s interesting the page that they link to that is “evidence” of lack of diversity in publishing. In the linked article it, commenting on the results of a publishing industry survey evidence of a lack of diversity reads, reads:
“The results of DBS 1.0 were stark. 79 percent of respondents identified as White. 78 percent
were women. 88 percent were straight. 92 percent were non-disabled. At a time when readers of all backgrounds were demanding to see themselves in books, the publishing industry came nowhere near to reflecting the rich diversity of the United States.”

Mixed race people must feel marginalized by this. Unless there are authors out there that place the text of their books outside the page margins, leaving the page space within the margins blank cause they can’t speak to that experience.

What we really need is term limits for Congressional members. Right now the Dems are pushing the narrative that Trump’s decisions are guided by.his wanting to be re-elected. No shit. At the top of every 1st term President’s “Want List” is a second term. The campaign promises he made in 2016 must be followed through on. If he accomplishes the promised he campaigned on for his 1st Term, he stands to be well positioned to be re-elected. What’s wrong with that. He won election because of what he promised to set out and accomplish. Every President in history has done that. Trump promised in 2016 that he draw down troop numbers in the middle east. When Trump, as Commander in Chief ordered the scale back of troop deployment, John Bolton was pissed. Bolton is a warmonger, second only to Hillary’s blood thirst.
When Iran shot down that unmanned drone, Bolton advised Trump to bomb the shit out of Iran. When Trump was advised by forward air controllers that the strikes Bolton pushed would result in non-combatant civilian collateral deaths, Trump scrubbed the strike mission. Bolton was also pissed about that. Like Hillary, Bolton has liberal tolerances for civilian collateral death counts.
Let’s go back to Congressional members. How long has Pelosi been in office? 20+ years? Compared to Trump factoring in re-election only one time, versus how many fucking re-elections Pelosi has campaigned, who is really making every single decision based solely on personal gain, i.e. re-election?
