Watch: “Talented waterman and big mountain charger” Chuck Patterson ski the day-of-all-days at Mavericks!

Novel!

Where does novelty rank, for you, in surfing? Love every twist of our favorite, or second favorite, pastime? Hate the desecration? An earnest shrug? A less-than-earnest shrug?

Well, whatever your feelings, Chuck Patterson just skied the day-of-all-Mavericks-days. The same one that saw Peter Mel enter the quinquagenarian hall of fame.

Chuck Patterson Skiing Mavericks January 10, 2021 [RAW CLIP] 🎿

Patterson, whose website describes him as, “Versatile. Adaptable. Accomplished. A few of the words that exemplify the spirit of the talented waterman and big mountain charger. A master of not just one or two disciplines, but seven,” has also skied Jaws.

What are the seven disciplines?

When Nike launched into action sports it had 6 as part of Nike 6.0. Has Patterson discovered a hidden one? The holy grail of extreme?

Let’s hope.

If you get bored with BeachGrit.com, Tik Tok is really entertaining.

It’s not all sexually precocious girls dirty dancing to shockingly explicit rap music – even Ariana Grande! – and scaring their parents.

There’s some wholesome entertainment, too.

I sent this to everyone’s favorite surfing cowboys:

Tesla stock is climbing and dropping in a haphazard fashion.

But it always trends up.

My friends are calling me either to thank me for talking them into it or they kick themselves for selling too soon.

Once sees a lot of fancy-ass ass cars in Malibu but two days ago this one took the cake: A McLaren Elva. 820 horsepower and 200-plus miles per hour but no windshield or roof.

The driver and the passenger were both wearing full helmets with visors.

A thoroughly modern badass Speed Racer car worth two and a half million dollars.

A nice elderly man down the street used to own Mclarens but said his wife didn’t think they were very comfortable so he bought a three million dollar Bugati Chiron. Two hundred and fifty miles an hour twelve hundred horsepower but also comfortable.

Who wants to go two hundred miles an hour with no windshield?

No, we think that they think they stand for a utopian, classless society that runs on unicorn farts where everyone gets four star room service and a hypercar, but instead deliver results of crack addled homeless people shitting on the street and turning California into Venezuela.

Crack addled homeless people are the result of Rayguns policies in the eighties to force the mentally ill to live on the streets.

Just trying to calm these hillbilly idiots down and make them realize the dems are not going to turn the country into North Korea.

That’s simply a false trope.

Reagan hasn’t been Governor since 1971 or President since 1988. The policies of which you speak, the push for transitioning from institutional care for the mentally ill to community based treatment, started in 1955 and was the consensus view of the American Psychiatric Association on down, who believed that “miracle drugs” like thorazine would be a panacea to end institutionalization. Licensed professionals, politicians (of both parties) and civil rights lawyers were all overly optimistic in their prognostication. It was a failure on the part of professional class and politicians of all stripes.

This is from back when the NYT was still a newspaper: https://www.nytimes.com/198…

For no-nothings and partisans, Reagan has been the scapegoat for the mental health/homelessness crisis since the 90s. If that was the truth, simply reversing course could have happened decades ago, particularly considering California’s state assembly has been controlled by the most progressive Democrat supermajority in the nation since the mid-90s and Democrats held trifecta control of state government from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 until now. (and the Governator I’m sure would have signed such legislation)

Our government is throwing money at homelessness and mental illness like 19 yo marines at an Oceanside strip club. And that is part of the problem: https://www.city-journal.or…

Costs way more money put the mentally ill in jail with no treatment instead of actually dealing with whats wrong with them. Oh and it’s also inhumane. Maybe you should look at what other countries like Canada, and Europe do.

I happen to work for the California Department of Corrections- we provide comprehensive mental health treatment, with scores of psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers on staff, and many types of inpatient and outpatient programs including mental health crisis beds, just at my prison, and that is replicated across our many institutions. Department of State Hospitals (DSH) is part of the department at large, but also provides service to non-convicted (but often legally committed) patients.

What is happening on the streets of San Francisco and LA, is that the “homeless advocate” business is a big racket, pulling in millions in funding that goes nowhere, or subsidizes drug use and “outdoor public space living”. Concurrently, state and city governments are completely unwilling to enforce the law, incentivizing a problem that has spiraled out of control over the last decade. Much of the mental illness I deal with, is the result of drug induced psychosis and that secondary to a complete breakdown in the family unit and the commensurate cycles of abuse and abandonment.

California has a larger (and more diverse) population and larger economy than Canada and almost every European nation. Tell the supermajority of Democrat assemblymen, and our feckless, pretty boy Governor to look into it- because right now they’re too busy getting jerked off by the public sector labor unions to pay attention to me. But, btw, Germany has almost a million homeless people and conversely, many European nations have laws wherein vagrancy, panhandling and squatting are crimes. They also don’t have revolving doors with a 3rd world country brimming with drug cartels, nor social programs that incentivize social atomization.

So far you have proven you have no idea what you’re talking about, don’t have the foggiest idea of what is really going on, but have profound feelings of compassion that defer to policies destroying humanity without an inkling of self-awareness or repentance when they perpetually prove counterproductive.

So your pretty happy with the whole for profit prison system. How much do inmates get charged per minute to talk to their families? People that smear shit all over the inside of their cells and are having a non stop conversation with themselves need to be in a mental health facility.

We are nation of laws, that is what my beliefs are. We should have the same strict immigration policy that Canada and New Zealand have. If somebody wants to live and work here they need to go through the process of applying for a work visa. The problem you have is that you think it’s all black and white with peoples views. My family on both sides are from northern Minnesota. I grew up fishing there, and was given a gun when I was twelve years old.

I don’t even go to downtown SF anymore. The last time I did somebody used human shit to write the word yuppie on the window of bed bath and beyond where I had to go to buy something.

There are people that just walk around naked in broad daylight completely out of their mind. It’s destroyed SF. I live on the other side of the bridge and I avoid it. It used to be a nice city.

Drug induced psychosis last only a few days. Maybe you work at a county jail that holds people waiting to see a judge I don’t know. I’m talking about long term inmates.

As far as a million homeless in Germany thats probably because they had some compassion for refugees that needed to escape to war in the Middle East, started by A republican who made up lies about the reason for war.

My missus tried to do something nice and bought me a “surfing” painting to put in the shed. When I started unrolling it I realised it was Laird’s Millennium Wave. It was so fucken hard to act enthusiastic mate. It’s still rolled up under the bed as far as I know. I would have preferred a Robbie Madison Teahupoo one any day. At least it’s a bit ironic or something.

Haha that’s classic mate. I got a leather toiletry bag one year as well cos she sick of me using a glad bag when we travel. I let the kids kick it around the backyard like a footy and that was that.
