In an explosive, but unsurprising, new rumor from a professional surfer source, the World Surf League has notified all 2021/22 Championship Tour hopefuls that they MUST be vaccinated in order to enter Hawaii, Australia in order to surf professionally.
“It sort of mirrors the U.S. government policy and Australian policy and the Australians are very tight on this. No pokey, no surfy.”
Sport leagues and governing bodies around the globe have taken different approaches to vaccination with some high-profile athletes like Kyrie Irving, who plays for the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, choosing to sit out instead of complying with city/state mandates. The NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL all strongly encourage players to be vaccinated but none of the most popular leagues require.
The international nature of professional surfing complicates matters as countries have differing guidelines. If true, and vaccination is required for events in Hawaii and Australia, what does it mean for noted skeptics Kelly Slater and Gabriel Medina?
Will the world’s greatest surfer, 11x champion and current number 18, vacate his spot instead of being forced under the needle?
Slater has recently opened up many fronts in his war against mandates, pulling in surfers, doctors, influencers into bloody skirmishes.
Will last year’s number 1, a rejuvenated Gabriel Medina, hand the crown over to Italo Ferreira instead of shooting a little mRNA under his skin?

Coronavirus vaccines have been under development for decades – they’ve just never had financial motivation or funding to pull it off to completion.
Same goes for most vaccines that take a long time to develop – they were sideline projects that did not have every single researcher and manufacturer in their field working on them simultaneously with millions (billions?) of pre-orders already reserved.
What about the treatment for Covid-induced myocarditis? Because for almost every single observed side effect of the vaccine (and by ‘observed” I mean correlation, not necessarily causation), the incidence is much higher – and cases more acute – among covid-positive patients than in vaccinated individuals.
Not taking the vaccine on account of the known side effects is equivalent to only showering outdoors during thunderstorms because you’re afraid of the number of people who die due to electrical shock in the bath each year.
Sad as it is, we’re used to seeing a certain number of preventable deaths every year from everything from disease to car crashes or (usually further from home) starvation. The reason Covid (or any new disease) prevents such a threat is that it does not just add a few more deaths on top of those statistics – it increases them across the board. If all the hospital beds are taken up by Covid patients, suddenly the mortality rate from car crashes and heart attacks has the potential to skyrocket too, because people cannot get medical help when needed. Then the health system collapses, followed by the economy, and then more people die from starvation, crime and suicide. This is what nobody talks about when they say “But X thousand people die of the flu every year and nobody cares about that…” – that is because we have 100 years of data that our governments use to predict the resources required to treat severe cases of the flu each year, so that the rest of the medical system does not get overwhelmed. Anything that upsets that delicate balance can have a major snowball effect. In a few years, Covid will be treated the same as the flu – there’ll be seasonal outbreaks, seasonal vaccine boosters, a fairly predictable amount of annual deaths, and an annually-adjusted portion of the healthcare budget dedicated to keeping Covid below the ‘acceptable’ threshold.
So this is absolutely about saving lives – perhaps just not in a way that simpler folk can understand.

I really feel that mass media has taken a serious turn into propaganda, and not just an impartial reporting of facts and evidence. Now I don’t know what to believe.
