News reporter perplexed and dismayed as surfers defy good sense to shred Milton ahead of hurricane’s landfall

"Here we have another former Cat 5 that's going to be a Cat 3 at landfall, and the storm surge is baked in."

The potentially very devastating Hurricane Milton made landfall overnight as a Category 3 storm on Florida’s central west coast. Siesta Key, its first point of contact, reported sustained winds of 120 mph, though it shrunk to a Category 1 as it moved east across the state. Power is out for much of the region and those living in the Tampa area have been ordered to shelter in place as “extremely dangerous conditions” are percolating outside.

Jeff Masters, a scientist who formerly worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s hurricane hunters, warned CBS News, “Some of the biggest catastrophes in hurricane history were from weakening storms. Katrina was weakening as it was approaching the shore and it caused $190 billion in damage. It was a Cat 3 at landfall and it was formerly a Cat 5. Well, here we have another former Cat 5 that’s going to be a Cat 3 at landfall, and the storm surge is baked in.”

Wild tornados whipped the area before Milton reached the shore further terrifying beleaguered Floridians but none of that stopped two intrepid surfers from paddling out near Naples, right in the storm’s path. A reporter, who happened to be posted on the very same beach, approached the rippers and perplexedly asked what they were on about. They responded that it was typical for them to sample tasty waves before hurricane landfalls. The reporter wrinkled her brow and wondered if they were worried about lightning strikes and aforementioned twisters. They declared they were not. She then wanted to catch them in a “gotcha moment,” asking if they were going to defy orders to leave. They responded that they would defy lifeguard orders but not those of the police.

The reporter shook her head in abject confusion.

Surfers, man. What weirdos.

Fake News.
The Republicans voted to shut down the government and not pass the CR budget, because of the SAVE ACT, which requires Voters to show proof of citizenship……which the Democrats are fighting against.
However when the government “shuts down” it is very limited and does not include emergency services and military.
FEMA has the money and in fact has money for grants that have been in their reserves for over 20 years. FEMA’s problem is not funding, it’s allocation of their funds that they are using on providing illegal immigrants with housing, food, transportation, healthcare, phones, etc. instead of assisting American citizens in need, especially those disgusting hillbillies of WNC….which leads directly to why the Dems don’t want the SAVE ACT.

See how it works? Take care of illegals and they will take care of you when it comes to voting illegally. You’re a very good shaper, Mo but you really don’t know shit about American politics.
You should stick to your lane.

haha…..can you give me a link to the illegal immigrants getting FEMA”s money??
I know a Litle about US politics…and am very entertained by Trump’s persona and how gullible the American public are or is it their education…..I mean fact checks show Donny to be a leader of a cult where whatever he says becomes the new truth of MAGA….I mean he says he went gaza, never did and he could turn it into Monaco/pets/FEMA/weather control/project 2025/QAnon / etc….I mean how much fact checking do you do HC ??

I have seen that so long as one says something along the lines of “in the name of Jesus” at least once in times of trouble that things may work out ok. To me being a Non-Hawaiian-Lapsed-Catholic that seems like very cheap insurance. At wurst you might end up screaming it like it matters while the worst happens. It’s not enough to make me take up hurricane chasing as a hobby but it’s something I am taking into my daily practice (or is it practise? Yoga jargon is intentionally awkward – subject, verb, object, victim) as an emailer and pusher around of stuff kinda existence.

I’ve always said that Jesus is the wurst.

I’m all for petitioning the Norse gods, but they’re so busy working with white supremacists it’s hard to get their ear.

You gotta love the electrical tape job on the nose and the strings hanging out of the other guys not boardshorts. Something tells me they don’t surf much and were going for the “lets get on TV” moment.

However, yesterday the winds were blowing dead offshores in Naples as Milton made land fall far north and the back side of Milton farted winds offshore.
Check out the footage of Tampa bay being drained due to offshore flow.
….and if you watch the news footage, the winds are offshore behind the brave surfers.

Not saying you’re wrong……just saying you’re not right

yeah, was referring to the actual conditions in the news clip, but yes if you get on the proper side of these storms it can get pretty epic, although the paddle outs at Florida beach breaks in solid tropical swell conditions are not fun, to put it mildly
