Getting barreled, tucking in underneath the tasty lip of a cool wave, is obviously the maximum of the surf experience though, generally, very difficult to come by. The enthusiast who hopes to become slotted generally spends years upon years trying to figure out mechanics, lines, posture. Failing over and over and over again with no guide in sight.
The barrel life, as they say, a lonely one.
Enter Steve Aoki. The very famous DJ who puts even professional surfer Paul Fisher to shame when it comes to Spotify downloads (14+ million fans as opposed to 16+ million fans…. oh I guess FISHER crushes) recently made his way to Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch, up in Lemoore, CA, to show how to barrel both left and right.
Legs, buttocks, arms and head ideal and the vulnerable adult learner who cannot afford the KS Wave Co. price tag, in either Lemoore nor Abu Dhabi, should pull out pad and pen and take serious notes.

Recently went rafting with my son for the first time.
Despite it being almost whitewater conditions,and we were coached thoroughly in how to paddle and deal with a capsizing,at no point whatsoever was I under the impression that anything I did affected the course or enjoyment of the ride.
It was a wet rollercoaster.
Naturally,I didn’t let my son in on my thoughts.
He had the most thrilling time of his life,and was obeying instructions from the helmsman for all he was worth.
And we got some great action pics afterwards.
Which is exactly what this is.
Though ten times as pricey and wanky.

Let me break it down…Trust fund baby DJ (Dad started Benihana’s) pays $50k to get the outer edge of a barrel. Can’t buy style though.

That wave is the easiest wave to get cover on. Not that this link showed any resemblance of a barrel clinic or any stye that should be duplicated for getting barreled.. Most waves that barrel give two distinct options… making the drop or going over the falls. Wave ranch somehow doesn’t play by these rules. Sorry no kudos from me Steve.
