I woke up, this morning, per the usual, went downstairs, made an drinkAG1.com/surf and a piping hot Americano and tucked into the news. Trump officials walking back initial statements on the murder of Alex Pretti leaving vociferous ICE defenders swinging in the wind, Bill Belichick getting snubbed on his first football Hall of Fame ballot, Vice-President JD Vance becoming the most blocked person on Bluesky mere days after joining.
And it was here that the coffee turned bitter in my mouth.
Vance had set up an account on the social media app favored by leftists and progressives, penning, “I’ve been told this app has become the place to go for common sense political discussion and analysis, so I’m thrilled to be here to engage with all of you,” before posting Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ opinion that bans gender-affirming business for minors.
He was, then, immediately blocked by over 100,000 people becoming the most blocked user in Bluesky history.
As you know, I’m pretty proud of myself for being blocked by Kelly Slater, Joel Tudor, Filipe Toledo and his big daddy Rick but that is nowhere even near 100,000 people nor, I think, a record.
The Bluesky community also got in some licks before smashing that block button, telling Vance he was not welcome, to go find a couch etc. though Fox personality Sean Hannity was a fan, calling the stunt “next-level trolling.”
