Surf brands crazy nervous as U.S. gov investigates Nike for “anti-white” discrimination

Surf brand CEOs, CFOs and CMOs awoke, this morning, with fresh panic washing through. Coffee mixing distastefully with bile. The uneasiness not stemming from typical surf industry apocalypse business, no, this terror is something worse, something more formidable than Jamie Salter and his surf brand eating ABG.

The United States Government is on the warpath, seeking for potential workplace biases against beleaguered white folk, and sporting giant Nike just got slapped with a subpoena.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or EEOC, is demanding the Beaverton, Oregon-based company to turn over “the company’s criteria for selecting employees for layoffs, how it tracks and uses worker race and ethnicity data, and information about programs which allegedly provided race-restricted mentoring, leadership, or career development opportunities,” according to National Public Radio.

EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas, a Trump appointee and very much on his side when it comes to the evils of diversity, equity and inclusion, declared, “When there are compelling indications, including corporate admissions in extensive public materials, that an employer’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion-related programs may violate federal prohibitions against race discrimination or other forms of unlawful discrimination, the EEOC will take all necessary steps — including subpoena actions — to ensure the opportunity to fully and comprehensively investigate.”

Nike, for its part, stated that it intends to cooperate but the subpoena, “feels like a surprising and unusual escalation.

The aforementioned surf brand CEOs, CFOs and CMOs quaking in booties, wondering if they are next.

In the surf industry’s favor, 99% of the folk hired across the board were white.

A possible government red flag, though, 99% of the folk fired also white.

Certainly the waft of anti-white discrimination.

Everyone at Hurley, Quiksilver, RVCA, Volcom and Billabong taking a “wait and see” approach.
