Bondi Surfer Jimmy McIntosh Finds Love Amid Islamic Terror Attack on Hanukkah Festival!

In a story that would warm the hell out of even the coldest heart, The Australian has reported that two first responders to the Islamic terror attack at Bond Beach, old folks and kids gunned down by a couple of Indian migrants with shotguns and a dislike for Hebrews, have fallen in love and are set to be married.

Jimmy McIntosh, 46, little brother of Stab founder Sam McIntosh, and Lexi Edmondson, 35 were virtual strangers despite living close by in Bondi and having crossed paths during a bronze medallion lifesaving course at Bondi Surf Club years earlier.

They never had romantic interest at the time as Lexi explained in The Australian, “We were never interested in each other in that way; he thought I was really young, I thought maybe he was married.”

James, a content creator and a real keen surfer, grew up in Yamba like big bro Sam etc, added that he saw her as “really sweet” but assumed she was much younger and never considered her romantically.

On the evening of December 14, they had planned a casual drink before heading to the Bondi Surf Club’s Christmas party. Lexi, a physio fresh from completing her masters, was in high spirits. As they neared the club right near the bridge where the murderous attack began they heard the Islamist shotguns and witnessed the horror unfolding at the Jewish community’s Hanukkah event.

Drawing on their recent lifesaving training, they rushed into Archer Park once the shooting paused to aid the wounded.

James recalled in The Australian: “I knew I had to run in, because I knew what to do. And there’s a part of you that wants to do it, as horrible as it is, it’s like ‘now is my time’.”

With prior experience tourniqueting a shark attack victim, his buddy Glen Orgias got his hand bitten off by a Great White back in 2009, he stayed calm under pressure.

Lexi triaged patients and coordinated supplies.

As reinforcements arrived, they teamed up on one critically injured man shot in the leg. A photo captured them lifting him to a treatment area before deciding to drive him to hospital themselves. Not real sure why Jimmy is smiling, but maybe it’s the cute gal hanging onto the other limb.

By the next Tuesday, romance sparked with an awkward first kiss.

Lexi reflected in The Australian: “It’s a pretty big thing to have intense feelings and to be in such a vulnerable state we were both in… And our consistent theme the whole time was, ‘let’s not jump into anything too soon’.

Their relationship deepened quickly.

In February, during a holiday in Mexico, James proposed, telling her — as per The Australian —“I’ve never felt more connected to anyone than I am with Lexi and during that proposal I said I had never been more sure of anything in my life… It was a new space for me to be totally confident and certain that this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.”

Now engaged, living together, and planning a November wedding, they dream of children and a shared future. Their story spread joy at a Shabbat ceremony at Bondi Junction’s Central Synagogue honoring the attack’s heroes.

Rabbi Levi Wolff, an ol pal of DR’s as it happens, a sorta rock-n-roll rabbi, has offered to marry them the first non-Jewish couple to do so there, saying in The Australian:

“I was blown away by their story. I could not believe it and I was so inspired… They are representative of a light that has emerged from darkness. There could be nothing more bright than a couple promising to commit to each other and to bring children into this world.”
