Here it is, the day 1 live comments feed recap.
Much like the hype for the contest, the anticipation for the live comments thread was palpable. Like the Surf, the live feed was slow, flabby, the odd weak blow but generally quit sleepy, when the beer tide in the beer fridge start draining, or the meds to kicked in, thats when the action started.
Momentum built through the feed with a few comments getting responses that ran the length of a couple “load more comments”, with multiple thumbs up hits down the screen.
The usual comments team were there, strayan cunt babbling about the same shit we hear everyday the comps on, negs giving us local intel, com with the lawyers angle. there was odd wildcard going at it like they have nothing to lose that kept things interesting.
The sheep shagga jokes were getting all the points at the start with some belters getting excellent scores but some commenters tried to harness that but unfortunately not hitting the mark, or like italos 100th air rev, doing repeat jokes.
Some commenters changed tack and showed progression through the scaffolding jokes which were rewarded but there was 1 person that won the day, like Medina, that totally blew up. Andy C

I’ve got a bit of a routine when I’m flying home from overseas. It’s virtual ways a red eye flight. I’ll grab a quick couple of hours sleep after takeoff then wake up and spend the rest of the flight listening to music whilst everyone else on board sleeps. Just when the first hint of dawn appears, I’ll grab a coffee from the hostees soho are bunched up in their little hideaway up the back of the plane whispering amongst themselves. Then I’ll return to my seat and watch the sun rise.
Then I’ll listen to this as we approach whichever destination in Oz I’m landing in. Gets me close to tears everytime. Particularly if landing in Sydney and getting a glimpse of the harbour.
That’s an anthem. For all the ways I don’t feel completely at home in Aus, I sure love the joint. Thanks for the share Blowy you paint a tender picture.
