Respite will, of course, be sought and what better way to beat the heat than a cooling plunge in the Pacific?
Families will pack cars with towels and Wavestorms, Spikeball kits and Yeti coolers and point west toward Orange County’s tantalizing shore, dreams of a little splish splash dancing in heads.
They will park and lug to the beach, becoming hotter and hotter with each step, needing a refreshing dip more than ever but unbeknownst to them a fresh pulse of south swell is arriving at the very same time. Surfline is predicting waves in the 6-8 foot range this weekend, 10-15 feet next.

Already overworked lifeguards will be pressed to the max. Spikeball factories ramping up production like crazy in anticipation of swept away kits needing to be replaced forcing workers to go without breaks.

G- Gas- By looking at the bouys and cams all day does the surf look worth the amount of gas I am going to have to use to get there?
C- Crowds- Will it be crowded?
A- Attitude- Is my attitude in a good enough spot to deal with the crowds? How about a pest in the line up?
M- Motivation- Am I fired up to surf in very mediocre waves? Do I have the right board in my truck to make it fun?
Now with all that being said I need at least 3 of these things to line up otherwise I will reset to my baseline which is having a beer on the couch.
