Well, seeing the fitness comments, the focus on strength, bravery, ‘real men’ and women, in the mighty US of A, here’s something that anyone interested in health fitness and longevity should look at seriously. There’s plenty of things I disagree with the guy about, but that piece of equipment and the principles are deluxe.
Again… but… he’s also saying what as free/longy/tom tom can attest to, I pointed out to the fervid, rabid, blathering, slathering anti ‘stinkin’, youselass muscals’ swillnuts years ago, before they were comprehensively, totally, completely, utterly, eternally, decisively proven wrong… again…
Anyway, I commented on the video, as I have before, even including some links addressing some previous claims, which isn’t too popular with the presenter either. Sometimes its better to know fuck all, to have fuck all actual experience, to literally be a swillnut, than, for instance, to be one of the guys that spent years watching a legend getting spat out of bombs from hell… on a custom built MR twinny… lest you incur the wrath of… the latest dreaded death shovel wielder… agin’… but…
Speaking of for instances, for instance, the history of the first, truly flexible wetsuits on the planet, and the resulting crescendo of wrath, is an epic saga… even touching on shark proof offerings… truly epic…
I wonder if crappy waves will tone down the riots on finals day this year? The weather in Huntington beach is so nice this week, gotta figure there will be some rioting…no one likes to riot in cold weather or in the early morning.

Just went to Instagram to see how many surfers I followed (thought it was 4-5 when it’s closer to 9; with another 9 related accounts such as photographers and bands) when I saw a photo of Taylor Knox who took a board (and 70 stitches) to the eye. Ouch. He’s all good, though.
For those of you who follow 50-100 surf related accounts, do you’ll see all of their posts or does the algorithm bury some of them?

San DiegoHB, 21 year old who fancies himself a model and pro surfer is very active on social media and scraped in from the QS to the CS as the final qualifier from his region. So this year he’s surfed Saffa and now USOpen and judging from the person i’m replying to he might still be in the contest.I don’t know his name (I’ve forgotten it) but you’ll find out soon enough if you follow the CS. When you do find out his name i encourage you to, for journalistic purposes, peruse through his instagram so that you can see what a unique take he has to pro surfing and social media. And, maybe, life as well. Just another one of those yanks that we can’t ever really, truly understand having never grown up in places like San Diego, La Jolla or the US.
Unless, that is, you watch shows like Love Island or something like that. It is what it is and I’m past hating on people unless they are harming other people by their behaviour, which this kid is not. He may be having a bit of trouble making friends with anyone who’s not into the whole online/marketing world.
Maybe he’s the ADS of the Huntington Storm and there’s a whole host of insta-savvy surfers just like him on the way up.

San Diego is, thankfully, not like HB. Zeke hurts the cause, but it’s actually possible to talk one-on-one with him. This kid… I think has some underlying social anxieties/ineptitude (I can already hear the Aussies getting in a tizzy for “diagnosing”).

His social media is mostly obnoxious and dumb, but it didn’t really ever irritate me. The problem I have with this kid and his snowflake family and friends is they tried to get Sterling Spencer of all people cancelled when he clowned him a bit on his podcast about a year ago.
I’ve turned 56 this week.
2 years ago I was sitting, miserable in my car looking out over the beach thinking “I’ve got to change something…”
Starting getting fit again by running on the sand. Commenced cold water swimming a few days later. A few months later started paddling the fibreglass sleds once more.
Have been in a house for almost 2 weeks now. What a change that makes. Cycling to beach. Gentle stroll to work. Loving life, even if a little lonely for female company. The dating apps totally suck if you ain’t young.
Onwards and upwards!

Stay off the apps as they’re next to useless.
Meet girls in the water and on the beach and take them for coffee. Second date is lunch or dinner and then, after that, you cook for them at home. Forget about the apps, as that’s gold digging central ….depending on where you are.

“How tough are conditions out there?” is the closest I’ve ever seen the WSL acknowledge that waves are bad but I haven’t watched this in a few years.
Took a look about an hour ago. Except for the contest, there wasn’t a single surfer in the water anywhere between Seapoint and River Jetties
