I’m not sure anyone ever gave a shit about what is essentially the WQS though. I don’t think I’ve ever watched an event, on the internet, outside of Hawaii. Pipe, Sunset or Haleiwa.
There’s no reason to care about this. It’s the minor leagues.
It used to be a scene for the community, but they didn’t value the surfing and the dog and pony show flushed itself down the toilet.
Oversaturation and Commercialization have a way of neutering themselves.
The Katin event had interest, but by surfers, not the great white whale demographic the industry has been searching for.
Completely disagree mate, I used to love going up for finals day at Snapper when it was a Changa event. Got to see some really good surfing in fun waves, beach was packed with people who were really into it and there was a fucking sick vibe.
This is like a huge corporate, trade show with some surfing as a sideshow that nobody seems to give a fuck about. Completely soulless

I used to go as a kid and it’s great. Plenty of chicks and action, and going for a surf on the northside and dueling with pros was great. So Cal in the summer is good fun, far from souless.
But the larger point is that all you do is cry about every event that doesn’t fill your instagram fantasies.
The comps are what they are, be glad you can watch them.
I’m a couple years older than you and was skating before I started surfing and So cal has such a magical place in my upbringing as far as reading the magazines and looking at all the pics of the ditches skated by Stacy peralta and Jay adams, along with Sarlo at Malibu etc.
Was a similar scene up here in nor cal. Buying Thai sticks and finding empty pools

Out of all the legacy events in existence Huntington is at the top, the whole industry exists there and all the top CT guys want to win it as much as any old school event.

This one for one of the two biggest events on the Seppo Mainland didn’t even reach a hundred, most comments have nothing to do with the event and you reckon this is a refreshing change? This event is completely fucked mate and that is why nobody bothers watching it

Never said Sierra only surfed perfect beach breaks. She’s been ushered around to the best tropical reef breaks in the world from a young age. She’s going to have trouble surfing heats in beach break conditions.

My definition of a successful career is trying your very best to achieve your goals. It takes more than talent, money and opportunity to beat freaks like Dane, Jordy, Kelly, Mick, Parko and Gabe. Also, meeting your financial goals whilst enjoying your job is a big part of it. I’m sure that certain spiritual goals would also factor in for some religious people.
The kid tried his best and made generational wealth along the way . Can buy a house for all of his kids in an area where thousands of people are forced to sell up and move out every year.
