Watch as bridesmaids and matrons, ignoring official warnings to steer clear of menacing Hawaii south shore, get ravaged by pillaging wave!

Sick.

From my vantage, here in more or less gray Southern California, it appears as if the “historic” swell promised to hit south facing shores of the Hawaiian Island chain over the weekend materialized. Last Thursday, officials began sounding the alarm bells, warning tourists, the infirm, those weak of will and/or stomach to avert their eyes from the raging sea and go inland instead to maybe practice yoga or finger-painting.

Predictably, many ignored.

And let us to fair Kailua-Kona where we lay our scene, from ancient marital tradition break to absolute carnage, where salty ocean water mixed with mud and debris makes bridesmaids and matrons hands unclean.

HUGE Wave Crashes Big Island Wedding in Hawaii

Would you have paddled?

Ha ha… I know that very spot. They should have set things up a little further from the water. There was a mysto right breaking near there that only shows on the biggest swells. It was 2-3 times overhead yesterday. It’s been pumping here. Good times.

I love the Big Isle. So many sick waves if you know where and when to look. Damn shame about Pohoiki. Had so many memorable sessions in that zone. One particular day out at shacks solo will remain etched in my memory forever. Super sharky but so good. Was so stoked and relieved after 3 hours when a lid paddled out. We were losing our minds trading off non stop kegging lefts that were as shredable as you could ever ask for…is that place completely done or what?

West side would be worthy of an expensive surf trip if only Maui wasnt there.

Pine Trees was so cool before they paved it and you had to drive over gigantic boulders to get there. Sorry, don’t mean to spot name but I’m fairly confident nobody reading this is going to jump on a plane on account of some random dude’s reminiscing.

Loving the glee in this guy’s voice as the wedding washes away.

Only a surfer knows the feeling.
