We live in the future and aren’t you just glad? Women and men both head into the office, or at least used to pre-Covid, on equal footing save the 82 cents per dollar earned. Women can expect that their boundaries will be respected, unless working for Harvey Weinstein, or similar, equality reigning supreme.
Reigning supreme everywhere, that is, outside of Surfer Magazine which found itself in ultra-hot water after posting an egregiously sexist headline that would have even caused grimaces in 1955.
The piece in question showcased an outstanding Pipeline tube by Moana Wong Jones, phenomenally ridden. A “ride of the year” candidate for certain except to Surfer, which simply wondered if it was the “Best Pipe Wave Ever Surfed by a Woman?”
By a woman?
Wow.
Just wow.
As you may remember, the publication was recently sold for millions of dollars to The Arena Group which happens to be chaired by Ross Levinsohn, whom National Public Radio accuses of having a “Frat House Behavior Trail.”

Just stumbled onto this thread. I have no problem associating my self with Chuckles. We banter via text from time to time and I had a great time hanging with him in the minutes right after he got Goggan’s slap of love. I love and hate Beachgrit. I think it has some of the laziest fucking reporting on the entire Interwebs. And some of the best. To wit – Lazy Ass Derek can’t pick up the phone to call Shawn Rhodes about getting hit with a taser. At the same time, the boys don’t give two shits about stirring a pot that desperately needs to be stirred. Nobody is calling out idiocy in the surf world like Beachgrit—while still managing to post the most inane drivel about Kelly and Pam. While still – at the same time, having Warshaw in their kelpy clutches. More Goggans slaps are yet still deserved for both Chas and Derek for failing to even mention the passing of Ashley Bickerton — who surely seems worthy of mention amidst these supposedly erudite electronic pages.
