The WSL’s famously milquetoast brand and strategy officer Dave Prodan, the living embodiment of the World Surf League’s pivot away from surfing’s roots and to its generously inclusive, diverse, LGBTQ+ friendly model, has launched what might be misconstrued, in some circles, as an attack on the hand that feeds the fragile sport of pro surfing.
Prodan, whose bent is left – blames climate change for the tour’s lacklustre waves and who has been described as the “ultimate apple polisher” took to Twitter recently to join in a pile-on about Elon Musk, the fifty-three-year-old billionaire owner of Twitter/X, as well as SpaceX and the nerd chariot producer Tesla.
Prodan writes,
“In America, under the broad capitalist worship of money, wealth is often equated with intelligence. That said, we all have bosses/know wealthy people with the IQ of a tub of cream cheese. Let’s stop lying to ourselves. Money does NOT equal intelligence. Often the opposite.”
The reader doesn’t have to be an online sleuth to know that Prodan’s own boss, Dirk Ziff is a billionaire seven times over, a man with no relationship with surfing.
Was Prodan’s tweet, therefore, a shot across the bow of Ziff’s super yacht or just a run-of-the-mill hate-the-rich whine?

And Fox ratings during primetime is about 2.7 million. Across the whole day its 1.9 million. There are 330 million people in this country. 78 million people voted for Trump. The media landscape is changing quickly. Most people consume their news, for good or bad, on social media sites like TikTok and X/Twitter.
You would be hard pressed to find any news source out there that just reports the news. The AP style guide has bastardized the English language into a jumbled mess of ideological wording that litters news articles across the political spectrum. It’s ridiculous when you think how influential that AP guide is and how ridiculous it’s style guide has morphed into non-reality language/wording to describe what you see with your own eyes.
As for myself, I tend to get my news from conservative blogs like Red State, PJ Media, Washington Free Beacon and such.
My comment about Fox News is simply addressing the let’s go-to talking point that conservatives only get their news from Fox, which the numbers show is not the truth.
And as far as Germany is concerned, the repeated use of far-right to describe citizens that want to maintain their cultural identity and values amid immense pressure from global governance proponents and an influx of immigrants who seek to subjugate them is fast becoming meaningless.
So, first I should be clear. I mostly only read news headlines and any deeper political conversations I have are with family and friends. I am not a media or political expert nor do I care to be.
In terms of news, there seems to be two categories here. The news you don’t trust or is corrupted by the left and the conservative blogs you follow.
Is there media organization or even a person you consider having a centrist point of view?
Trust in the mainstream media news is at an all-time low.
There are no centrist news outlets. People here would likely say the AP and NPR and PBS are centrist, but common sense would say otherwise.

So, this is the conundrum.
If you can’t find a center and everything that doesn’t agree with your point of view is not trustworthy, you are going to sound like an extremist. It’s not a liberal or conservative issue per se but I don’t see people on in these comments defending Democratic Leaders in the same way conservatives defend Donald Trump or Elon Musk. And honestly, it should be encouraged to criticize people in power and certainly the richest man in the world?
The idea behind news consumption is to gather information, and ultimately draw your own conclusions.
When I have criticized the Biden Administration, plenty around here jump in to argue against my opinion. If that is not defending Democratic leadership, I don’t know what is. Not to mention they voted for Biden and Kamala. That in and of itself is defending the decisions of that leader.
I have never discouraged anyone from being critical of people in power.
Perhaps after years of hearing white men are evil, are Nazis, want to destroy this Nation that they barely believe deserves saving, and being told your phobic of shit you disagree with, then yeah, maybe you too would defend your position in a different way

I was going to say I never think about cultural preservation that much but I just realized I may be a hypocrite.
I am currently raising a son as a 90’s surfer. For example, he’s currently only allowed to watch Lost vhs movies, ride extremely narrow thrusters and of course I regularly warn him to “not be a pussy”. There is much more nuance to this parenting technique but you get the idea.
So maybe I am into cultural preservation when it comes to 90’s surfing but not so much my nationality or ethnicity.
