"Kelly Slater called me and he was pretty upset and I just figured I could introduce you."
The songman Eddie Vedder has led a tribute to dead surf icon Shane Herring at a Pearl Jam concert in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr Vedder, a wiry well-constructed sixty year old with a hairy chest and what is reputed to be a fat, mouth-watering dick, made his name with Pearl Jam in the Seattle Grunge scene of the nineteen-nineties, the man that was built from the ashes of Mother Love Bone after the death of its frontman, Andrew Wood.
In front of twenty-thousand fans at Bridgestone Arena, some who’d paid fifteen-thousand dollars for VIP seating, Vedder delivered a soliloquy for Shane Herring, who died from injuries after falling down stairs at his Tweed Heads on Saint Patrick’s Day a month and a half back.
Herring was fifty three, which is real young usually, but a miracle ol Herro made it that far given he’d been shaking his fist at the reaper for thirty years slipping by multiple hits of pancreatic disease and with a joy for the drink that ate up all his teeth.
“I wanted to tell you about him because if not, you may never heard of him. He was an Australian surfer. He was one of the people that not only was huge in the Australian surf community, but his loss last week has affected the global surf community and his folks and his friends there at home.
You know this guy was so good that at one point he was beating Kelly Slater. He was number one before Kelly Slater and Kelly called me and he was pretty, uh, pretty upset and I just figured I could introduce you. I just wanted everybody to know that we’ve lost a good one. We’ve lost a great one. Mr. Shane Herring. Thank you. If you’d be so good to maybe light up your phones and we can send this song to all the folks back home thinking about it.”
Four-and-a-half minutes in.
Essential.

Rumor has it that at their next concert, Pearl Jam are going to introduce us to JP’s contest wrap…
Eddie Vedder is a kook.
And I say this, as a life-long kook.
A fat cock kook if i read it correctly.
Thanks for throwing this out there, DR. Amazing how big and relevant this band continues to be.
Yes, because DR speaks volumes about his “music” in this article…./s
Shit’s awful!
There is no way pearl jam should be anywhere near a p.a. system. NO FUCKEN WAY
Can I ego surf adjacent fan boy spew up now
I’m hoping Shane was more of a Radio Birdman type of guy
You’d hope.
But more Madonna and Michael (both Hutchence and Jackson) when young and famous apparently…
Or was that Kong and/or Pottz ?
“Essential”
The only thing ‘essential’ there is a sick-bag.
Which of the following is most vomitous ?
1. Eddie thinking Herro carked it a week ago ?
2. Eddie saying Kelly called him upset about it ?
3. Kelly being upset about someone he had fuck-all to do with in 30 years ?
4. Eddie talking about it all, and his apparent involvement with Australian surfers, pro-surfing, and the global surf community in general, to a landlocked Tennessee audience ?
I mean, gag me with a fuckin’ spoon.
EDDIE IS OBVIOUSLY MORE OF A FUCKWIT THAN WAS DEEMED LAST WEEK…
I’m loving your lists, Beef. 👏
I could lay in a field of this, and roll around! Go Beef….
Would you roll around with Eddie’s fat cock, too? First I’m hearing of that appendage myself. I wonder how DR knows.
100% Grade A Beef
Pick one of the following-
A. Cringe
B. Random
C. All of the above.
I’m sure everyone in Nashville is tuned into surfing given their vast coastline.
Kelly really provides a conduit to another world.
It’s fun shape kook vedder. He’s in perfect company there!
The king of Fredieland. Kelly’s ploy for a pool in Nashville.
