"If you have mean dogs PLEASE leave them home."
The culture wars, which really exploded during the past decade, have had many notable soldiers, on both sides, but many none more surprising than Bethany Hamilton. The Kauai-born surfer was made very famous after having her left wing bit clean off by a tiger shark at 13-years-old whilst out surfing Tunnels. What would have completely derailed most lives galvanized Hamilton’s and her return to surfing became one of the most inspirational stories of the 21st century. A best-selling book and major motion picture introduced the young woman into millions of homes and hearts and there she glowed bright.
But culture wars. A handful of years ago, now, Hamilton spoke openly about how men should not be able to compete against women, enraging progressives. Then, Hamilton dared promote the nuclear family, further enraging progressives.
And now?
A whole new, but maybe related, demographic is up in arms.
Owners of old and grumpy dogs.
The battle lines in this new offensive where drawn after Hamilton took to Instagram to say that her 7-year-old son was bitten by a dog. “A couple of weeks ago, my son got bit by a dog,” she began. “Not provoked. And super random. The dog was on a leash even.”
She went on to share her disappointment with certain dog owners, those who don’t properly scold their pets for bad behavior, ending with, “I used to have poor behaving dogs. And I was blind to it. If you have mean dogs PLEASE leave them home. Also, if your dog is getting really old and grumpy, leave them home.”
As you can imagine, muskets lowered, on both sides, “fire at will” the call.
But where are you, here? Are dogs same same as people and their “behavior” a glorious spectrum or are they beasts who should be treated thusly?

Grumpy and mean tiger sharks should also stay and home
Sit babo sit
Good dog !
This thread is one of the best !
thanks peoples I needed a laugh
She needs to look after her dogs, I seen her at the beach and her dogs run around everywhere, while she’s out surfing, no-one is looking after her dogs. Her dogs aren’t properly trained either, needs to get them in dog training school, will def become better behaved and smarter dogs.
Hypocrite.
Always have felt Cujo got a raw deal and felt sorry for him …not so much Beth. But getting up at restaurants with one arm!? Fucken heroic!
The absurdity of Grok?
Is her kid a ranga? My dog has this thing for rangas. Can’t fucken stand them for some reason. It’s only 3 years old, so has to be a genetic predisposition to rangas. Not a learnt behavior. Weird.
Hahaha sick the ranga !
God.. Imagine rabid Ginger on the warparth. Not say’n your guy has the Rabbies. But still Rabid Ranags has a cool horror feel to it.
If your dog bites a ranga you might need to get it some kind of shot
If there’s one way to rile dog owners it’s to tell them that they should be following the fucking rules.
https://uploads.disquscdn.c… My beach, my wave, my chicas go home!
“¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!”
Pigeons are the real problem.
Truer statement never made. Rats of the day skies. Bats are rats of the night sky.
Micro bats are a treasure! They eat mozzies
… and bats are chickens of the cave
It’s sad knowing that if my child got bit by a dog Beach Grit wouldn’t even have known it happened let alone write a story about it so we can all share our one arm jokes. Life’s just not fair.
Maybe a blessing. You would probably get ripped to shreds below the line.
I can see why she would be up in arm over this. Maybe you should leave your wife at home if she is getting grumpy in her old age Adam.
Would love to hear her opinion on guns – you know the single biggest killer of kids.
Pistols only for her, can’t really steady a rifle.
Pistols and that sawn-off, repeating shotgun that Arnold carried around on his cruiser.
Edit: The sawed-off Winchester 1887 with large-lever loop used by Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator – 10 gauge. Note the metal plate on the lever for better handling during flip-cocking. https://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=Terminator_2:_Judgment_Day#Special
That’s not true. Infectious diseases like pneumonia, diarrhea, and malaria are the biggest killer of kids.
Cancer and suicide sit pretty high on that list as well.
Not as high as firearms. 3 years running now.
Well, you have to be specific about where you mean for that to be true. Overall in the US that is correct but not true for everywhere in the US and not true for the world as a whole.
https://uploads.disquscdn.c…
Should have qualified that – in the US firearms kill more kids than anything else.
https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2024/guns-remain-leading-cause-of-death-for-children-and-teens
Historically, yes. Right now in the USA though, firearms are the leading cause of death between the ages 1-18.
3 years running
so much winning.
Very telling chart. Do tell us who is winning?
https://uploads.disquscdn.c…
the Second Amendment, obviously
And here I thought the Second Amendment was about the common defense, taking up arms and self-defense not the right to bear illegal weapons. I suspect my interpretative skills are failing me..
Very telling indeed.
That’s definitely true in the bible belt but not so much on the west coast.
Correct
More so than swimming pools? You sure?
Edit: ahh, suicide by gun doing some heavy lifting in those stats. Makes sense. Almost no kids suicide by pool.
Per Grok: breakdown by age groups
Below is a breakdown of the most likely causes of death for children and adolescents in the United States, ages 1-18, by specific age groups, based on the most recent available data (primarily from the CDC and other sources, covering 2020-2022). The leading causes vary by age due to developmental, behavioral, and environmental factors. Note that data for 2023 and beyond is provisional or incomplete, but trends are consistent with earlier years unless specified. I’ll divide the age groups as 1-4 years, 5-9 years, 10-14 years, and 15-18 years for clarity, focusing on the top cause of death for each group, with additional context on other major causes.1-4 YearsLeading Cause of Death: Unintentional injuries (primarily drowning)Rate: Approximately 9-10 deaths per 100,000 (2020-2022).
Details: Drowning accounts for the highest proportion of unintentional injuries in this age group, often in swimming pools. About 30-35% of deaths in this group are injury-related, with drowning being the most common mechanism due to young children’s limited swimming ability and lack of supervision.
Other Major Causes:Congenital abnormalities (birth defects): Second leading cause, contributing to around 20% of deaths.
Motor vehicle crashes: Third, often related to improper car seat use or pedestrian accidents.
Homicide (often linked to child abuse): Notable but less common than injuries.
5-9 YearsLeading Cause of Death: Malignant neoplasms (cancer)Rate: Approximately 2.2 deaths per 100,000 (2020-2022).
Details: Cancer, particularly leukemia and brain tumors, is the leading cause, accounting for about 15% of deaths. This age group has the lowest overall mortality rate (around 10-12 per 100,000), reflecting fewer injury-related deaths compared to younger or older groups.
Other Major Causes:Unintentional injuries (primarily motor vehicle crashes): Second leading cause, with a rate of about 3-4 per 100,000.
Congenital abnormalities: Third, still significant due to chronic conditions.
Firearm-related injuries (homicide and unintentional): Emerging as a growing concern, especially in 2020-2022, but not yet surpassing cancer.
10-14 YearsLeading Cause of Death: Unintentional injuries (primarily motor vehicle crashes)Rate: Approximately 4-5 deaths per 100,000 (2020-2022).
Details: Motor vehicle crashes dominate, often involving pedestrians or young passengers. Unintentional injuries account for about 30% of deaths in this group. Firearm-related injuries (homicides and suicides) have risen significantly, challenging unintentional injuries in some years.
Other Major Causes:Suicide: Second leading cause, accounting for ~13% of deaths (rate ~2-3 per 100,000). This is a notable increase from younger age groups, reflecting mental health challenges.
Cancer: Third, with a declining trend due to medical advancements.
Firearm-related homicides: Increasingly prominent, especially among males and Black youth.
15-18 YearsLeading Cause of Death: Firearm-related injuries (homicide, suicide, and unintentional)Rate: Approximately 12-14 deaths per 100,000 (2020-2022).
Details: Firearms became the leading cause of death in this age group starting in 2020, surpassing motor vehicle crashes. Homicides account for ~65% of firearm deaths, suicides ~30%, and unintentional shootings a smaller fraction. The rate for Black teens is significantly higher (up to 18 times that of white teens for homicides).
Other Major Causes:Unintentional injuries (primarily motor vehicle crashes): Second leading cause, with a rate of ~8-10 per 100,000.
Suicide (non-firearm): Significant, often involving suffocation or poisoning.
Drug overdoses/poisonings: Rising sharply (83.6% increase from 2019-2020), driven by opioids like fentanyl, ranking third in some years.
Key Trends and NotesShift in Leading Causes: Before 2020, motor vehicle crashes were the leading cause across most age groups (except 1-4, where drowning dominated, and 5-9, where cancer led). Since 2020, firearm-related injuries have overtaken motor vehicle crashes for 15-18-year-olds and are a growing threat in younger groups, especially for Black youth.
Demographic Disparities:Gender: Males have higher mortality rates across all causes, particularly for injuries (e.g., 5.1 times higher for firearm deaths).
Race/Ethnicity: Black and American Indian/Alaska Native youth have higher death rates (e.g., 38.2 per 100,000 for Black youth vs. 24.2 for white youth in 2016). Firearms are the leading cause for Black youth across all ages 1-18.
Pandemic Impact: From 2019 to 2020, firearm deaths increased by 29.5%, and drug overdoses by 83.6%, reflecting social disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. These trends persisted into 2022.
Preventable Causes: Most leading causes (unintentional injuries, firearms, suicides, overdoses) are preventable through public health measures like safety regulations, mental health support, and gun control policies.
If you need more granular data (e.g., specific rates for 2023 or regional differences) or want to focus on a particular cause or demographic, let me know, and I can search for additional details or analyze further.

False. Car crashes lead the list of non-disease related deaths.
NIH Data.
Cars have got to be up there.
I have a few kids under the age of 5 and in coastal Los Angeles cars scare me more than guns.
I watched the movie “Cars” recently and was disappointed that the car characters were friendly. It should have included scenes about the cars eating children like a Grimms Fairy tale.
You need to watch Death Race 2000.
When will ebikes make the list of kid killers?
That be falling under that accidental death thingy. Around here, they have cracked down heavily on the SurRon and Talaria thing. If they catch anyone riding one on the streets now, they call a tow truck and haul the thing away to impound.
I’m seeing many kids well under the age of 16, riding Talarias which are impressive IF one knows how to handle the speed and is 16 or older.
From 2022 – It’s #2 on the list – https://publichealth.jhu.edu/sites/default/files/2024-09/2022-cgvs-gun-violence-in-the-united-states.pdf – and would bet it hasn’t changed all that much.
Nope. Cars #1. NIH data.
Incorrect. It’s firearms.
Its Tiger sharks
🤣🤣
….and swimming pools; which kill 10X more kids than guns or dogs…
…and prescription opiates; which seems to wreck the lives of thousands of ‘Merican hotties every year. Met a blonde, stunner in Central America who said she was formerly an addict. Had the insta photos to prove it. Wild eyes. Perfect tits. Thank god she got out on the other side, so that I could meet her and sample her wares.
That is false. Swimming pools do not kill more kids than guns and it’s not even close.
That does sound like quite the happy ending!
man, you’re nuts.
have you never seen the gangs of swimming pools roaming the streets in L.A. Dangerous AF
The real wetbacks
That would be vaxxines

The biggest contribution to increased child life expectancy over the past century is the combined impact of improved public health measures and medical advancements. Key factors include:
Vaccinations: Widespread immunization against diseases like measles, polio, and smallpox has drastically reduced child mortality from infectious diseases. For example, the WHO estimates that vaccines prevent about 6 million deaths annually, with significant impact on children.
Improved Sanitation and Clean Water: Access to clean water and better sanitation systems has curbed waterborne diseases like cholera and diarrhea, which historically killed millions of children. UNICEF data shows that improved water sources reduced diarrheal deaths by over 50% from 1990 to 2015.
Nutrition and Food Security: Better access to nutritious food and interventions like breastfeeding promotion and micronutrient supplementation have lowered malnutrition-related deaths. The Global Nutrition Report notes a 20% decline in stunting since 2000.
Medical Care and Antibiotics: Advances in pediatric care, including antibiotics and treatments for infections, have saved countless lives. For instance, penicillin’s introduction in the 1940s reduced mortality from bacterial infections dramatically.
Public Health Campaigns: Education on hygiene, maternal health, and disease prevention has bolstered child survival rates. Programs like oral rehydration therapy for diarrhea cut mortality by 93% in some regions, per WHO.
These factors work synergistically, but vaccinations and sanitation stand out as the most transformative, especially in low-income regions where child mortality was historically highest. Data from Our World in Data shows global under-5 mortality dropped from 182 per 1,000 live births in 1960 to 37 in 2020, largely due to these interventions. If you want me to dig deeper into any specific factor or region, let me know!
Seems like vaccination actually help. So you would be incorrect.
false.
the “single biggest killer of kids” is Car Crashes.
in regards to guns ~ Suicides account for nearly 6 in 10 U.S. gun deaths.
In other words, if not with a gun, the child would have found another way. Mental health is the issue, not guns.
gun deaths and suicide spiked dramatically in the years between 2020-2022 and have continued to decline since. Hmmmm. what could have led to so much despair, depression, harmful and violent behavior?
On average, gun deaths hover around 15,000 people per year. There are over 400 million guns in the United States.
Nope. It’s firearms.
Millions upon millions of dogs are out and about. Very few dog attacks. Therefore no reason to leave my pooch at home.
good dog, baseball bat and a gun. all you need to keep the family safe.
This is true. No argument here.
Single biggest killer of Kids rn is fucken Isreal.
actually the biggest killer of kids is starvation….13,000 kids under the age of 5 die every day from malnutrition…yep every day…..just a different perspective?
I am speaking to US based. But agreed – it’s atrocious.
Guns don’t kill people, rappers do
She’s lucky…only 50% chance of getting bit by an angry dog on the arm. She is better than us!
Round of applause for that one please
The sound of one hand clapping?
If one hand claps in the forest, (or in the islands) does anyone hear it?
Wait What?
https://uploads.disquscdn.c…
i got bit on the ass god damn that hurt i really wanted to kill that dog for about a day then i got over it
Human Kids > dogs , common sense
What about puppies (ie dog kids)? Some human kids are way cuntier than puppies.
idk, I’d take dogs over other people’s annoying kids full stop—at least there are still well behaved dogs in this day and age.
Kids are naturally and generally good at heart, same with dogs. Both are merely a product of their upbringing. It’s the parents (or dog owners) that are cunts.
