Ramin is a small coastal village in the far south of Iran, located in the Baluchistan region, one of the country’s most remote, marginalized, and impoverished areas. Despite these challenges, this coastline is uniquely home to Iran’s only surfable waves.
Shahla Yasini is the first woman to ever surf in Iran. More than a surfer, she is a pioneer who ignited a quiet yet powerful cultural shift among Iranian youth, using the ocean as a space for freedom, self expression, and resilience. Her influence helped introduce surfing to a new generation and expanded what was possible for women in Iran.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran in their ongoing fight for freedom and dignity. We support those who courageously resist tyranny and oppression, and we condemn the violence and repression imposed by the IRGC.
