Kelly Slater, the world’s greatest competitive surfer, has finally weighed in on the mass deportation of undocumented folk living Minnesota by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. ICE descended upon the land of 10,000 lakes at the beginning of the month, causing quite a stir with their masks, unmarked cars and very aggressive tactics. Two weeks ago, ICE officer Jonathan Ross shot and killed unarmed Minneapolis local Renee Good in her car, causing broad outrage. The Trump administration, unbent, flooded the state with even more ICE agents, increasing tensions and polarizing the already polarized nation.
A recent poll by Public Policy Polling has found that 53% of Americans feel that ICE is going too far and 50% believing that ICE tactics are making communities “less safe.” 40%, in contrast, consider ICE actions perfectly appropriate and we can count the 11-time world surfing champion amongst that minority.
At hand, a social media post by alex.nick.jungle which read, “MAGA: President Trump has already deported enough illegal aliens in Minnesota for the blue state to LOSE a Congressional seat. This is the plan guys. Trump plans to win by cheating. A LOT more than he did in 2024.”
Kelly Slater, never too proud to mix it up with minimally followed plebeians, responded, “Walk me through the thought process here. Explain how Trump would be cheating because laws are being enforced and how Dems making sure illegals get a vote isn’t cheating. One stacks the deck while the other resets it.”
