It’s that the NFL cut a deal with a production company owned by Jay-Z for halftime shows years ago. That deal, however, gives Jay-Z’s company sole discretion to pick the halftime performer and the NFL can’t overrule that decision.
Maybe they should have thought about the potential backlash that would invite from the MAGA peasants if Jay-Z is calling the shots, but I think the NFL figures they aren’t going to lose too much viewership from those nutjobs when it’s the Super Bowl.

The democrat establishment has decided that the democrats are the party of “we aren’t Trump” since Hillary lost in 2016. That was enough for Joe Biden to win in 2020, but that ain’t going to necessarily keep the white house or a congressional majority when it comes down to policy making.
Larger structural issues at play: losing the fairness doctrine; right-wing media control and ownership; Citizens United and dark money in politics; and stale Dem leadership/ideas. But honestly, a two-party system (another issue) can’t manage 360million+ people in an era of social media and populism (and one party being ok with fascism). Better is an honest discussion about breaking the US apart into new countries, but relative ease of movement between them.

This is one of my favorite surf spots. He must have missed the sand spit at the end of the beach and ended up in the cliffs beneath the Dra. Ester Feliciano Mendoza High School or the giant boulders below the golf course. The next get out spot would be the big sandy beach at Punta Borinquen Beach. Probably too gassed or panicked to paddle back outside and make his way there.
As is all too common these days, I watched a young woman attempt to paddle out at the mellow North Shore spot called Freddieland. Her board choice was the first clue as to her ability level. Her uncoordinated paddle form sealed the deal. That aside, there was a solid 15’ swell plowing through the lineup. Short story long, she was quickly swept out to sea. Lifeguards were summoned, jet ski arrived and crisis was averted.
This all happened with her presumed boyfriend casually bagging corners at Freddie’s. He had no idea until he saw her swing by on the ski, sobbing.
