No one, I believe, can resist falling love with a such a face or a body like Mike February with its small round pectorals and nipples like dark brown currants.
The New York Times, a race-obsessed left-tilting newspaper that swings between parody and propaganda, and which was last in these pages when it slammed The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe as “spectacularly bad“, fell under the thirty-three-year-old’s spell two years back, running an op-ed piece from Mikey February, as well as a sixteen-minute documentary about him called A New Wave.
Anyway, Alex Knost, who once famously explained why surfers generally aren’t pals, “People pretend they aren’t but deep down there’s a brotherhood, or sister hood, a family”, has just released a film with Mike February called Longhorns.
Whether you love it or hate it, and I loved every piece of it, you will be powerless to shrug it off.

Try as hard as you like M Febuary will not become the next multi generation marketing tool to superseed Curran , who was promoted to superseed W Lynch , those days have gone just like big brand surf wank and currupt surf judges and so called journos on the payroll , give it up its all history , surfing has eaten its self and Vans might as well throw a huge party and spend the last of their dwindling funds getting pissed than waste it on sponsoring Febuary.

It’s Mike February and Al Knost surfing a really good right sand bottom point. Great waves.
The music is unlistenable jazzy dogshit of the ilk which implies that these guys are Freeform surfers and a cultural parallel to jazz musicians. The noisome attempt at clunky metaphor just makes you want the clip to end, despite the mesmerising perfection of the surf. There’s even a pretentious oration at one stage but I luckily only caught a brief barrage as I FFWD past.
The surfing is Ok. Nothing Earth shattering despite Mr February’s talent. I saw Knost slide out and blow a very makeable tube because of his usual atrocious choice of equipment at about the fourth wave in, pondered why anyone would go to the effort of chasing such waves only to waste them with substandard equipment and that was it for me. Gunned it through the rest.
Despite the epic waves and surfing of Mike February it is not worth 1 1/2 stars.
The music and equipment tarnished the gorgeous waves. Like an incredibly beautiful woman ruined with tattoos.

You should encourage your upvotes to never travel there and I agree, don’t. Ever. Sure, it will take several more terrible videos to dissuade humans from threading needles for hundreds of yards, SO BORING, oh the music?! The Taco’s are not as good as at home either!!!!!
You realise the critique is of the video and not the location? I emphasised the waves were very good.
Oh yeah, this video is shit.
1. Font at the beginning was too big
2. Opening line up shot had a crooked horizon, ruined
3. Fin needed to be moved up 1/2 inch in box, washed out in the tube at 1:07 creating unnecessary interest
4. The drop at 3:19 was too exciting
5. The wave at 4:35 had whitewash on the face
6. Gratuitous joy and laughter at 9:47 was superfluous at best
7. A double hand drag at 10:24, who do you think you are? Tom Curren?
6. The final walking on beach shot you see the camera operator let them walk across frame and then he pans to reset the frame for a second shot. That camera pan was obviously intended to be edited out. Leaving it in on purposing could only be a reference to “the process” or the celebration of the mistake in Jazz. Terrible and possibly too thoughtful.
