Just five days after shrapnel from an Iranian missile landed in the newish Tel Aviv wavepool, surfers in that gorgeous little city on the Med, bangin’ bars that only turn on after one am, hot gals with pistols strapped to their army-hardened thighs, have been bombed in the lineup, two missiles exploding next to the usual pack.
Filmed and reported by the IG account @wavehub_surf, the windswept Tel Aviv lineup is lit up by the two Iranian missiles, although surfers appear to be anything but concerned by the brush with deadly explosives, a legacy, clearly, of the Jew’s proximity to death at every turn.
This morning, during another good day of waves in the Med, two Iranian missiles struck the Tel-Aviv line up just a few meters away from the surfers. Thank god no one was killed!
Responses were remarkably sanguine and typical of the brave Israeli.

Could it be possible to time the missiles on a flat day and surf the blast wave? Sort of like glacier surfing?
Tel Aviv, of course, is everyone’s favourite flavour, and as correctly described by the World Surf League.
What a jewel in the desert Tel Aviv is.
Palm trees line the six-lane highways. The city is marked in the modernist style of architecture, public buildings and apartment blocks designed by Jews, who’d studied at the famous Bauhaus school of architecture, fleeing Nazi Germany. White sand beaches stretch almost all the way to the border of Lebanon. Drive an hour inland and you hit Jerusalem and its ring of holy sights.
And all this under that sublime Med climate of hot summers and mild winters.

I’m currently watching my mother slowly waste away from dementia. My family of 4 covered her care 24×7 until we just couldn’t do it anymore. She’s on hospice in a memory care home now.
All of this to say, I see you and I understand a bit of your experience. I lost faith long ago. I once told a friend that I don’t believe in god. She responded, “That’s ok. He believes in you.” Maybe so… IDK.
Some surfers have to deal with sharks, cold water, etc –

I often think that the negative PR of your team member going to the media and saying “they made me an insulting offer.” is worse than just dropping the athlete/spokesperson. We’ve been seeing those sort of interviews our whole lives.
All they can say, when dropped, is “they didn’t want me anymore” and the public understand that COMPLETELY.

As an aside, I’m always amazed that Coca Cola doesn’t spend more money on surfing, like they did in the 80s. They clearly crunched the numbers and realised their marketing dollars are better spent elsewhere. Coke could have EASILY spent what Monster and Red Bull spend on athletes and contests, although their margins are tighter than those companies.

It will happen but the sad thing is that it will be too late. We just need a common enemy, like aliens, very unlikely but we may be creating them as we speak. AI I think will end us, hopefully not in my lifetime but it could be much sooner than we all think.
They are aready struggling to contain current models, between trying to blackmail programmers, trying to escape and already creating thier own language. Very scary stuff.

I think if I had to pick between a ballistic missile attack and surfing a chummed beach in New South Wales I’d pick the ballistic missile. Taking relative wave quality into account makes it a much harder decision.

You know that the government has free therapy sessions to help you to come to terms with this, right? Paid for with your taxes.
Who else should be there with a loved one while they die, if not a family member? The horror of seeing a loved one waste away and die is part of our life experience. It always has been. Maybe it’s a bit more ficked up nowadays with modern medicine delaying the inevitable and dragging out the process, but it’s still the process. Please talk to your GP and ask him to schedule you in for some sessions with a grief counselor or someone similar. It can only help.
