Not a euphemism, just a sad fact that we have an extremely high crime rate. But in a cruel twist the reality is that the vast majority of crime occurs in poor heavily populated areas meaning it is not actually a major problem around surfing zones.

Do you understand the politics of Palestine? As a quick 101, Palestine is split between the West Bank and Gaza with approx 65% living in the West Bank and 35% in Gaza. In Gaza, Hamas has majority support but the majority of the West Bank supports Fatah. Gaza was also ruled by Fatah until 2007 when its likely that Israel’s severe oppression of the Gaza strip in particular culminated in support for a more radical option (some conspiracy theorists (not me) suggest Israel engineered this as a means to implement the ‘genocide’ we have all watched in real time since Oct 2023). So yes it is 100% accurate to equate the majority of Israelis with their government and not equate the majority of Palestinians with Hamas.

I guess you missed my point that it’s not just Netanyahu. It’s also his equally evil coalition partners led by low life’s like Smotrich and Ben-Givr. So nah, you’re wrong, the majority of Israel supports the likely Genocide that has occurred and already proven illegal occupation of Palestinian land in the West Bank amongst other brutal transgressions. As such Israel as a whole is way past deserving of the boycotts that forced the similarly evil apartheid regime here to disband.

Fair comment towards many white South Africans today. But not me who was active in the protests against the apartheid regime and who dedicated a major part of my career towards the upliftment of poor black people by doing NGO work developing educational, infrastructure and housing in the poorest of poor areas in Durban both before and after the end of institutionalised apartheid.

Yep and I have Jewish and Israeli friends who feel the same way about Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, Smotrich etc. And I can’t be accused of bias in my criticism of Israel as a whole given that their democratically elected government is led by people who are as evil as Hamas, which means that the majority of Israelis are 100% complicit in the on going murder and oppression of Palestinians. So just like during apartheid in South Africa where a minority of white people were against the tyranny, our evil government (and its voters) were forced to abolish apartheid only after collective punishment against us all through economic, cultural and sporting sanctions (this included surfers like friends of mine who were banned from international competition at least at an amateur level. Oh and surfers like Shane Horan and Tom Carrol who eventually boycotted professional events here were my heroes!). I have no doubt that the decent Israeli’s we know would support the same approach to force the obvious change necessary.

Haha now you’re also 1/2 starting to get it :)) And yes I 100% do absolutely judge the American people based on Trump. Without the majority’s support his government could not do what it is doing. It is without doubt the most dangerous country in the world in terms of the total impact it has on humanity vs any other country. Over and above their unprovoked attacks and underhanded covert operations in sovereign states (not just right now but for many years), withdrawal of USAID health support causing unnecessary death of the poor and vulnerable globally, climate destruction through the unmitigated pursuit of fossil fuels and where the majority of people still vigorously support gun ownership rights despite almost daily mass shootings. Holding thumbs that the fragmentation happens sooner than later but ultimately its down to people standing up against evil and recognising the duplicity of politicians like Trump.
