Days ago, surfers both near and far were disheartened to learn of young AJ Iredell’s defection. The 14-year-old was once a rising surf star with sponsors and an eye on the competitive tour, according to CBS Weekend News. Now, however, he is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu champ, having swapped out surfing for the much more exciting, and fulfilling, activity wherein people roll around on the ground in pajamas.
Alas, Iredell leaving surfing for something better might be the beginning of a surfing youth drain as “Scientology Speedrunning” becomes popular with the kids.
The viral trend, which started in April, wherein “raiders,” as they’re called, burst into Scientology buildings at full speed, eluding the desk man or guard, and see how deep they can make it into the innards before getting caught and ejected.
It is all recorded, of course, and posted to social medias where fans cheer along.
Surfing doesn’t stand a chance.
