"It's surf destination, it's golf, it's resort, it's everything that the Gold Coast embodies."
Nothing bores quite exquisitely, these days, as the announcement of a new surf park development. There is the bullish announcement, the computer-generated renderings, the sharing of how there will be a wave tank, sure, but also, and if you can believe, retail shops, restaurants and condominiums. The pool will be great for fun and pleasure but also national pride as Olympians can hone their craft when the ocean goes dull.
Etc.
Australia’s Mick Fanning, the thrice surfing world champion turned big businessman, stepped in front of the mic on a sunny Gold Coast day, recently, to do the aforementioned. Fronting two other businessmen, the former bad boy momentarily forgot that indefinite articles exist and shared of his Palm Valley project, “It’s surf destination, it’s golf, it’s resort, it’s everything that the Gold Coast embodies.”

Australia’s Channel 9 news reported that Fanning and team received a $4 million (AUS) “cash splash” from the government to help fund it and that the wave-generating tech will be Endless Surf.
But that’s not all.
Joel Parkinson, one time surfing world champion, is apparently building another surf park development very close by. His computer-generated renderings do not show golf or resort but does have what appears to be field of artichokes.

Channel 9 described it as a bitter race to see which Coolie Kid could open first, though Fanning tried to downplay, saying, “We’re super excited. We’ll probably be swapping passes. He’ll be coming to ours, I’ll be going to his.”
Yeah right.
Even the businessmen behind him thought it was ludicrous, hatred for Parkinson seething out their eyeballs and they cackled.
But who’s tub would you be more inclined to visit?
Team Golf or Team Choke?
Between BeachGrit & Channel9 you’ll never need to go elsewhere for your news.
Team capitalism of adult learners.
Xox
Nah, definitely both in the same zone.
Seeing as I haven’t been to the Goldy for 35 yrs and have never met neither Mick nor Joel, I don’t feel qualified to answer such a question.
If only there was a born n bred local around here who knows them both, to give me much needed advice on this matter…
IT’S 20 TO 8 IN THE FUCKIN’ MORNIN’ SOMEWHERE, YA DOG CUNTS
Lighting a candle, pouring one out, etc. </3
I wonder how sweet Mindy is holding up. She must be working over time right now.
thoughts and prayers xx
The real question is…
What’s your skin care routine? Twice to thrice weekly retinol to knock back those yucky face gutters? Antioxidant moisturizers? Serums and hyaluronic acids?
Or are you down to have your face look like Kelly Slater’s foot?
Mick has for sure been getting facials. In my hangs around Currumbin cafes he’d come in fresh faced for someone who’s been so exposed to the elements over the years.
You best start believing in skincare routines, Boggy.
You’re in one

Might have to measure the surface area of those beaks
Its officially now the place to not go, the Gold hoax
My Tulsi is out. Things must be going bad in Ukraine.
I hope that I can still see her in Hawaii, because I’m not going all the way to Russia to visit

Well that’s not what Channel 9 told me.
Those things are a nightmare to get off the ground. Skater been trying for years on the sunshine, but no dice as they can’t find the right spot and the greenies are being meanies about them destroying some wetlands (whose only purpose is to prevent catastrophic flooding) .
It can only be done in places where there’s Gold in them thar hills; and where money is God.
Gold Coast is the spot then!

Does Mick’s own have better or worse waves than São Paulo ? If better then I choose that one, because I don’t like artichokes all that much.
If similar or better then São Paulo, yet open to the partially washed masses, then I choose that one, because I once watched a video of my Goat (Ke11y) and the greatest surfer in the world (GMed) having fun and smiling while surfing at that pool. Settled.
Chas. If OuterKnown was started and owned by a different (friendlier) individual, but stood for the same lofty principles, would you pay $40-$60 for their t-shirts (after 28% discount) ? I wanted to ask Derek, but I think he’s busy.
I wouldn’t; because Patagonia t-shirts are $35 (+tax) and they’re organic ™️, but I’m told that they’re not as stylish as some would desire and require.
