Streets clogged with tents, abandoned parking lots turned into cardboard shanty-towns, old RVs and camper vans parked and lived in. It is very sad, a further sign of America’s fraying social contract, but also dangerous what with wildfire season approaching.
Days ago, the city of Malibu addressed the threat of a fire caused by an unauthorized encampment by passing a declaration of local emergency, thus allowing officers to forcibly remove unhoused folk.
Mayor Bruce Silverstein stated, “Declaring a local emergency provides an important proactive measure to reduce wildfire risk and protects lives and homes in Malibu as fire conditions worsen as we move towards the peak fire season.”
Live fuel moisture levels, or the percentage of water in living plants, is below 65. If it gets down to 60, vegetation burns as if it is dead.
Well, surfers paddling First Point, today, witnessed law enforcement action bundling campers along. Multiple sheriffs lined up and kicking the beach bums away. George Clout was set to deliver a Malibu surf report whilst capturing the action and posted it to Instagram. Commenters seemed very pleased. “Smoking crack there for a week. Glad they’ve been removed,” the general sentiment but do you have feelings about the homeless plight?

Mason Ho is deadset one of the overrated surfers I have ever seen and if he wasn’t from a famous Hawaiian surfing family no cunt would ever have heard of him. He also has this heaps annoying fake mellow, friendly persona when I’ve heard off mates hes one of the biggest privileged snaking cunts you will ever share a lineup with. Why ANYONE would rather watch clips of him over guys like Noa Deane who are on a completely different level to him boggles my brain.

I hear you, and in my heart of hearts, I have empathy. But I live in the middle of the city and there’s a fuck ton of homeless people, mostly annoying fuck ups. After a while you get tired of hypodermic needles stuck in your bike tires (god forbid you don’t notice it’s a needle, get poked, get AIDS), the tent refusing to leave the soccer pitch where your kids youth league is going to play, people stealing anything that’s not nailed down and also the nailed down stuff, smelling human shit and/or fentanyl smoke on your commute to work every day.
A couple of years back I ran over the bare feet of a bum passed out sleeping with his legs in the bike lane. Almost stacked over the bars but just barely pulled it out, ripped my shin on the pedal. My immediate reaction was fuck you piece of shit druggie scumbag I hope I broke your ankle and I should come back there and kick you in the fucking face. I didn’t feel an iota of “hey man are you okay” or anything like that.
so yeah, I have lost my niceness about it, need to move somewhere far away from the homeless horde so that I can think kind thoughts from a distance again.

Nias got WAY easier post tsunami too. Used to be drop in (to the bottom), come back up the face for high line entry, then drop back down while getting shacked (except those double ups which were just pu in si immediately).
